Yeah right. The notoriously generous billionaires are going to fund socialism. Or, they will scheme ways to wipe out all the useless eaters. It has happened in history before and it can happen again.

I want UBI but there’s got to be something to prevent landlords from just adding the UBI right onto the previous rent.
When the automobile became widespread, they didn’t give all the horses that were now far less useful to the ruling classes cushy retirements, they gave them an all expenses paid one way trip to he glue factory.

The much more likely outcome is that everyone is going to be unemployed and also without income. He seems to think that the politicians care about people. They don’t.
I used to follow this guy on Twitter, but I gave up when I realise that every time the world economy had a little hiccup, he’d prophecize another Great Depression.

Automation is never 100%. There’s always stuff to get done. Job offshoring to third world countries is another question.

Been saying this for a decade. When tech really takes teamster jobs, trucks, taxis, we get ubi. It’s just too many jobs lost.

UBI isn’t a serious policy proposal, at least in the US. Americans deeply, deeply recent other people getting government benefits, even if they like it for themselves. Americans would rather do without than everyone getting something. How many votes are there in Congress for UBI? Like 10?
Online thought leader types like to stroke their beards about this and how it would work, but it’s not happening.
We are heading for a society with productivity at a point that those things are possible. However, what we are actually heading towards is mass poverty.
The world is already isolated into silos where many people have a higher quality of life off the backs of others. It is an inescapable fact.
There is a zero chance wealthy and powerful elites across the globe will give up any capital or power to make their local or global populous have happy, healthy, and fulfilled lives.
All these false and fake claims about AI being somewhere incredible in 20 years, 30, 40 years and we’ll all be much better off? UBI for all? Then why do we need to layoff and destroy social programs that give people aid today? Can the billionaires, who increased their wealth by an average of 7 billion dollars in 2025, really not afford to make slightly less without gouging the world? Of course that answer is no.
The only world where advanced AI production benefits all of humanity is with blood and bombs. And even then, odds are we kill ourselves over it – just because some rich broken people have no souls.
When general purpose robots, capable of autonomously performing a diverse range of „human jobs“ or household chores get widespread, we need a new system in place where work performed by AI absolutely needs to pay into UBI.
Look at the world today, look at our history and see that the people in charge will be the ones deciding what and how much you need to have a decent life.
The words dystopian, drama and abuse are to soft for what’s coming, we will need new words to describe the total destruction of life and humanity itself to describe what’s coming.
Tech like ‘replicators’ and star trek like post materialism would be fought against tooth and nail and why? ONLY control and wealth privilege. That is the one and only actual problem. It would genuinely revolutionize our species, if we cleaned our value system of brain rot and pushed for a tangible benefits culture.
The people saying „don’t panic“ are usually the ones with the most to lose if everyone else does.

Funny how there was no talk of UBI when white collar workers were shipping manufacturing jobs overseas, but now white collar might be threatened, its a whole other story.
Ubi will only work if we look radically

It seems a lot of people would agree on socialism being an optimistic outcome but of course those people don’t know much about living in socialism.

We are headed for anarchy, the rule of the „elites“ who will push people into poverty.
We are looking at hunger games (remember idea that immigrants fight for citizen status?).
You will have cameras on every corner and worse social-ID program than in China.
