      If it is prescribed medication Canadian embassy will get him out. If they are not commenting on it then there is more to it.

      Don’t bring prohibited medications with you. Japan also does this sort of thing. Just because you were prescribed weed by a doctor in the USA doesn’t mean that on arrival in China you won’t face consequences.

      It does suck that some medicines fall under this , but please check the rules first. I feel sorry for the guy and don’t think it should have cost him what it did, but ultimately he did break the law of the country he was in.
