The whole scandal is dumb.
Everyone involved is pathetic with the exception of Jiro Sato.
She made a request to Fuji tv but half assed the request by saying no one had to be told.
Fuji tv let Sato’s manager know about the request but them that it was up to them if they told him.
The manager decided not to tell him.

Can we stop calling it a sexual harassment scandal? These titles clearly have an agenda with their use of the term alongside unspecified „touching“. Literally nothing that happened in this „scandal“ was sexual in nature.
Just because something is being shown doesn’t mean it’s supported.
And because Japanese X is full of extreme opinions, it doesn’t necessarily represent the consensus of the Japanese people.

It is not necessarily reported as sexual harassement but it is harassement – going to seeing her to tell her to quit acting because she does not want to be touched, after he was told that she does not like to be touched because he improvised physical touch apparently without knowing earlier.

The more I read about this it just comes off as a big misunderstanding? I get Sato running to twitter and making a few heated posts werent the best, but hes being labelled crazy stuff for accidentally touching. Now when I go on twitter, it seems like it’s become mostly a culture war left/right issue now cause shes associated with the JCP and I have seen lawmakers dabbling into it now.

This is ridiculous. It’s clear there was no intention of harassment. He did what any actor would do in a married role, and her preference for exceptlonal treatment was never communicated to him. It’s the producers and all supporting staff that didn’t take it seriously. Why is no one talking about them?

I am so sick of the media slanderously portraying this as a „sexual harassment scandal.“ I like Jiro Sato and before knowing the details mentioned to my wife how it was too bad to hear about his sekihara scandal, and she corrected me and pointed out that most Japanese take his side.
Even his harsh criticisms are totally understandable given he is getting blamed for something he didn’t know not to do that was perfectly normal as method acting/improvisation within a spousal role. If she can’t handle her co-workers acting, she need to be either far more forthcoming in advance or get some therapy so she can participate in more naturalistic acting.
Sato’s manager and Fuji TV’s execs for this show should be held liable, rather than Ai or Satō. Ai already informed her situation to the TV network and they did communicate it with Sato’s manager, but when Sato’s manager chose to not inform Sato and the TV officials just followed that choice without any heads up to Sato, they should be liable for the miscommunication. Ai’s boundaries shouldn’t be crossed and Satō should’ve been made aware of the arrangements from Ai’s side.
Not saying that I support either Satō or Ai, but I can see why either side is not entirely at fault in the scandal.
