      Damn, that is surprisingly low.I have BS in Chemical Engineering. I started working in 2010. In that time my salary has quadrupled

      For what it’s worth, my father, a tenured biochemist at a large state university, made 105K in 1991.

      In marketing I went from 40-120k in like 5-6 years, this curve is brutal imo

      Damn it, this made me go plot myself. I demanded a (long overdue) big bump in 2021 and have been flat against inflation ever since.

      Have you considered project management? Getting your PMP is surely easy compared to all of your other studies and you’ll easily get bumped into the 100k+ range.

      At this point you should go the faculty track. Biochemistry professors make really really good money. You could easily get another 20k a year and tenured faculty make much much more. Also helps if your at a university with research.

      Not surprising, academia pays terribly. I did a career change from neuroscience to software engineering and within 5 years was roughly making in a month what I used to make in a year.

      No offence, that is then a shitty salary for enduring such a shitty time in an mediocre country.

      < $100k, for a degree that was probably $160k at least? Rip Off

      As a fellow bio scientist, I feel the salary frustration.  What’s the rough cost of living in the area these salaries are based relative to national average?

      Ha, I got my PhD in 1994. I never earned more than $55K and them decided that it was more efficacious to quit as the costs for child care were greater than my salary by far
