      Worth.

    2. Shit, I hope people are able to get away from the shoreline in time – a tsunami/earthquake combo is devastating

My brother is there as a tourist and he said the shaking was enough to wake them all up pretty far inland. He sent me videos of stuff swaying. Said it felt like the ground was made of rubber. No serious damage at least near Lake Atlan. Hope those near the coast are doing alright.

My fiance was just awoken by this earthquake and she is terrified.

    5. Ref the Tsunami threat –

No threat to Australia as per the X account of their bureau of meteorology

No threat to N American W seaboard as per the X account of the US National Weather Service account

Mexico and C America: The responsible govt accounts for tsunami alerts to the public are @CNPC_MX for Mexico and for Guatemala it’s @Conredguatemala – neither has yet issued an alert specifically for tsunamis but both have acknowledged the initial earthquake as well as several significant aftershocks.

    6. Was it 6pm when the earthquake happened? There is a video of a guy saying there would be a catastrophic earthquake today at 6pm.

    7. I hope everyone gets out safely. The 2004 tsunami in Sir Lanka was devastating!

I’m not sure if it’s anecdotal but I swear I felt an odd ground movement here in South Florida / Miami this morning when nothing was going on and it was a bit before 9 AM Eastern time.

I remember thinking „did an earthquake happen again?“.

    9. There has been a crazy amount of high magnitude earthquakes in the last year. I feel like this is not normal.

    10. According to the BBC 1 hour ago: No fatalities or significant damage have been reported in Mexico or Guatemala from the quake, which was also felt in El Salvador.

California is long overdue for a large earth quake. Our time is coming =( At least we build to code for earthquakes, lets see if that holds up.

    12. People rightfully complain but the snow and cold in the Twin Cities and I hear that. But man I couldn’t imagine having to worry about deveststing earthquakes or other natural disasters found in many parts of the world. I’ll take the snow.
