For all the hysteria over “woke” casting and ahistorical choices, Christopher Nolan’s epic is on track to make $200 million globally during its opening weekend.

I don’t understand how one can be emotionally invested in a film they had nothing to do with let alone one they haven’t even seen.
It’s a fictional story. I’ve been looking forward to watching it since I saw the trailer and I’ll be doing so tomorrow! Looks amazing.
Christopher Nolan is just such a weird target to tie their anti woke nonsense too. He doesn’t miss, his films are always baseline good, and do well financially. Absolute idiocy across the board

I wasn’t going to prioritize seeing it this weekend but when I read some bigot yack and propaganda style insinuation that a 3,000+ year old fiction created as an amazing epic poem by the ANCIENT Greek poet Homer was “wrong” to include people of color I made room in my schedule and just bought riches for tonight. So there were Arab-black African mix crew on the trading ships from North African in all the Mediterranean ports all the time. When people with lots of melanin work all day every day in the sun on the sea their skin gets tanned steadily to extreme darkness. I see evidence for the way this Director opted to cast the film as being highly likely to be accurate with any woven facts of the story. With that being said, again, it’s always been a work of FICTION. (!?!)
It was very funny seeing a bunch of chuds who barely graduated high school pretend like they cared about the “historical accuracy” of ancient Greece.

It’s funny to me how furious people were about Lupita’s casting when she is in the film for *maybe* 5 minutes
Saw a „review“ on here just the other day and the complaint was about the most mundane nit picky bullshit. They claimed they went in with „no bias“ while stating „The sounds of the swords were so fake it took me right out of the movie“. Give me a break, it’s really obvious to me when someone is hell bent on hating something.
Low iq maga don’t even know who Nolan is lol. Anybody that knows him and appreciates his work is not letting culture wars stop them from seeing one of the best directors ever hot movie lol. I guarantee conservatives who trashed this movie still went and watched it. Or their wife for sure watched with someone else lol

My favorite complaint has been to the „historical accuracy“ of the characters, who never existed, and were entirely made up in a fictional story. A story that’s been around for 3,000 years and translated into hundreds of languages and adaptations by this point.
If they want something aligned to how they believe it should be told, there’s no shortage of versions out there for them. This one just isn’t for them.
It’s because the majority of the backlash was from people who were never gonna see the movie in the first place, because it’s based off an epic poem, and poems are gay.
I found out that anyone up in arms about a movie they haven’t seen based on a book of fiction they didn’t read not being historically accurate were not seeing the whole picture because they are one eyed cyclopses.
You should see the the Twitter comments about Elliot Page. Grasping at straws about the way he runs and stuff. It’s completely pathetic to hate on someone for their gender identity. I hate this timeline sometimes

What’s interesting is how the backlash failed. The entire premise of Elliot as Achilles being the center of that particular controversy, while in actuality he was an entirely different character in Sinon and was totally fine in the role, makes the hysteria laughable.
Then, the controversy around Lupita as Helen failed interestingly when you consider that in the film, we are seeing her in a disfigured state by Menelaus’ pettiness and vengefulness, so the squabbling about her beauty was silly to begin with (besides, did you see her in the Agamemnon return home scene right before she stabbed him lol 😍 My god)
