It is. Some fools have bought into the state propaganda to blame Spain for all the problems we have had in our 200 years as an independent state the others are just joking.

And at least 50% are “mestizo” of European descent.
Mostly Spanish.

It’s a joke. If a Spanish person comes to Mexico they will be welcomed. If you become really good friends with a Mexican, they might make a joke about it to take the piss, or might make a joke about your accent, but they’re not going to have some deep, underlying ill will towards you for history.

In recent years indigenous activists in Mexican government have gained a more prominent voice in disseminating their own version of history. So essentially everything is Spain is bad and everything to blame for destruction and deaths in Mexico.
The reality is that it was only 600 Spaniards with 200,000 indigenous auxilliares that toppled the Aztec empire. Disease did play a large role in deaths, but Spaniards didnt know about germ theory so its not like they brought their farm animals and questionable bathing habits to the new world on purpose.
The reality is that many natives joined the crown because they wanted to become caciques. The activists turn into Hellen Keller when that is brought up.

well, well,…. not only they are the descendants of the Spaniards that arrived there, also Latinamerican countries were never a colony… there were provinces!! will all the rights, legal representation in the central government, and same laws as part of the Spain country.
The indigenous people were protected by the laws (at least by the law) and mixed marriages were ancouraged in s.XVI and XVII.
Things changed for the natives when they got independized from Spain, here is when in most cases the new country citizens stole the native lands from the original inhabitants.
