Not just a teenager as you’d think 16-19, it was a 13 year old kid.
Awful.
Reading about how she kept it to herself despite her mother realising she was „exhausted and drained“ is heartbreaking.
2 other victims (that we know of currently) also.
I’m assuming he escaped jail due the high cost of treatment he’d need while incarcerated. Here’s hoping it makes his life unbearable.

Naturally this sub is foaming at the mouth over this, but does anyone actually believe that prison’s are appropriately equipped to care for a person with Huntington’s?
This monster shouldn’t be given care, and instead be left to suffer in jail… don’t think that would happen due to legal restrictions but would be better..

Personally the extra cost of putting him away would be worth it for that poor girl to see some justice. This is shameful.
You can see a possible appeal due to the sentence being seen as too lenient a mile away on this one.
What decision making process could realistically take it down to anything but custody?

It is probably true that he is too sick to go to jail, but I can understand why people don’t like it.

The TLDR he has Huntington’s he is dying horribly anyway.
A sensible and fair sentence. It’s just prison in a different setting while he dies a horrific death.
Great example of how misleading headlines will effectively rile up people who don’t read articles though.
Being raped is life limiting. The injury and trauma is life limiting. The suicidal ideation is life limiting.
Let his limited life play out in a concrete box
Just to highlight that one side effect of Huntingtons is impulse control disorder. The rape was in 2020 and huntingtons diagnosis in 2022 so could well have been experiencing symptoms. Not excusing the actions, but more that it’s worth considering that neuro-degenerative conditions have complicated side effects.
„Impulse-control disorder (ICD) is a class of psychiatric disorders characterized by impulsivity – failure to resist a temptation, an urge, or an impulse; or having the inability to not speak on a thought.“
Surely if he isn’t being imprisoned for medical reasons, then he can be sectioned into a NHS secure unit like Broadmoor. Regardless of his condition, even if he is dying soon, he should be kept away from society so he can never harm a child again.
She was 13yr old child on holiday with her family and he’s 30. She’s got life long trauma what he did and spared jail cos he’s got huntings disease.
This is a tough one because I can’t see any other workable solution, but the fact he is able to remain in the care home he was already in does feel like a serious lack of justice. I do really feel for the victims in this case because this must feel really disappointing.
This is the one crime where there should never be any mitigating circumstances where jail time is waived, including having a deathly illness. Rape is rape is rape and victims will forever be victims, but the circumstances of the perpetrator gets priority. It really is no wonder that victims of sexual abuse are extremely wary of coming forward.
They don’t have a choice in this one unfortunately . They simply cannot cater for him in a prison . At least his victims know that hellish karma will come his way
To be fair, I don’t see how prison would do anything to this person that’s not already been done. Honestly, piss poor that the article was written, all it does is make everyone angry.
