      I am strongly dissatisfied we (Australia) keeps selling China Iron Ore and Coal.

      Britain can do what they want.

      Jingye got exactly what they deserved after trying to sabotage the Scunthorpe mill. First they demanded a rediculous price then tried to damage the furnaces only to fail as plant workers stopped manegment.

      If Beijing is dissatisfied with the consequences of their own actions then that’s too bad.

      UK was extremely dissatisfied with China’s actions after hong Kong was returned but did china care?

      UK had no choice and China knows it. The Chinese firm wanted to close it because it was losing £700,000 per month and its the last place in the UK producing virgin steel. If it had closed the UK would be the only G7 country without the ability to make its own steel.

      It is currently costing the UK taxpayer £1.3m per month now, so the UK government doesn’t really want it but the UK has to have its own source of steel production for national security.

      China loves the word „national security“ so much. That’s the excuse China imposed on Hong Kong.

      UK has the right to counter Chinese mercantilism for their own national security asset. Live with it.

      I like to imagine the Chinese company that owned it was purposefully tanking its profits with bad business decisions as a justification to declare bankruptcy. For exactly that reason, removing Chinese competition. I don’t put it past them.

      I obviously have no proof, but it fits the MO.

      World is extremely dissatisfied with China on how it keep killing manufacturing in other countries by hugely subsidising their own.

      While that is good for the nation, profitability is negligible, but production is needed. Local employment is stable, the affluent should pitch in money to the government being such a steward.

      Oh boo hoo, China. Now if the UK government could look a bit deeper into why so many Chinese companies are buying existing private schools in the UK and then closing them down with short notice because they’ve suddenly run out of funds? It can’t all be because of the new VAT rates. The biggest question should be why are Chinese companies getting involved in schools in the UK when they could be funding education in China? And why has the UK government allowed it to happen?

      Smart move on the UK. Steel is an important industry and wouldn’t want to be only country in G7 that can’t make their own.

      They’re just gutted that they haven’t fulfilled their ultimate objective of all steel making in the UK to cease. Once you understand dependency theory, you’ll grasp what China’s long term objectives are all along.

      What’s the cost of national security? There are certain industries especially in manufacturing that need to be preserved at all costs. Domestic steel is one of them

      The Chinese should never have been let anywhere near it. I don’t know why the UK lets foreign companies buy so many critical industries in the UK, especially when those countries would not reciprocate.

      Frankly, more Western nations have to start nationalizing strategic interests and companies.

      We have been Boy Scouts for too long. While state-owned and state-controlled Chinese companies – benefitting from their national espionage apparatus and Chinese state manipulation of markets, currency, and justice system – get to compete with Western companies who largely don’t have these advantages (some US companies do), we all pretend that everything is on a level playing field. We pretend that Chinese ownership of critical industries and firms is just the same as if a private company from Canada or Australia owned it… well it isn’t. Wake up!

      Nationalize more strategic companies, wherever necessary.

      losing money or not, China should not dictate anyone what to do. Imagine Britain did that. I worked for a company where our project was forced to be sold to a rival Chinese company. There was no room for our complaints
