Can we ban fireworks going off two (sometimes even three) weeks after the event has already finished? I’m sick of hearing them.
Fully on board with this, fireworks on sale to the public is stupid given how irresponsible people can be, and indeed have been.
I can’t believe this nanny state wants to take away my „Armageddon Vuvuzela Blaster Ear Rape 9000“. The world’s gone absolutely mad.
A good time for people in the professional fireworks industry then, people will now need to hire a professional if they want big ones at their wedding etc.
Everyone is an „Animal lover“ until you’re asked to do anything positive for animals or wildlife, and then suddenly you’re Hitler for suggesting we behave more responsibly. It’s not like they’ve outright banned all fireworks for fucks sake.
Can’t even stop the sales of illegal fireworks. How they going to police how loud they are. This is a ban on paper only.

This is brilliant news. The fact any idiot can go and buy massive fireworks and set them off all day and night is absolutely insane. Leave them to the professionals who know what they’re doing. And I’m saying this as someone who lives in an area where fireworks are set off 24/7 for no reason.
Public sales should be banned end of. Go to an event if you want to see fireworks.
Stop selling them altogether to the public and have local councils organise firework shows.
This is great. I fully believe that if fireworks had just been invented today they’d never be allowed. They’re only allowed because tRaDiTiOn which is a crap reason to do anything unless it’s something entirely harmless.

That’s not even an exaggeration. I once travelled to Reading for a job interview in between two night shifts and my nap was ruined by yobs letting off fireworks at 7 in the morning.
Who the hell sets off fireworks at 7am in daylight? The answer is clearly chavs…
God, I hope this goes through. I live in an area with a large Indian population. There’s bloody fireworks all the bloody time. It feels like if someone gets over a cold, it’s an excuse to start setting off fireworks. Our local cinema has had to evacuate on multiple occasions because of people setting off flares or crackers at screenings
Its not firework night anymore, its ‚firework 6 weeks‘, they just never stop from mid October to mid November and then 6.20pm on a Saturday evening for random reasons.
Wild to me that they’re not just outright banned. Leave them to professional displays. Do we really need people letting a random rocket off every 4-5 minutes in their tiny back garden.
Deffo. Saddleworth Moor near Manchester has been burning for the best part of a week now cos some dick decided to let fireworks off near Dovestones Reservoir. It’s mainly a peat bog which has obviously dried out over the last few weeks so will probably continue to burn until we get a significant amount of rain. Lots of wildlife has gone. It’s a bit of a disaster.
I would argue that it should be ANY loud and unwanted noise that can impact the health and wellbeing of others. Loud cars waking people up early in the morning, loud exhausts on motorbikes over a certain DB, high pitched sustained sounds from a nearby factory or data centre etc
Great, next you can impound those cars with stupid exhausts.

Shooting a firework is littering when you think of it. All that plastic and shite that gets distrubted in the environment.

How about we ensure pet owners go through desensitivity training with their pets.
Fireworks should not be sold to public. It should be organisations who facilitate a fireworks show with the correct safety measures in place. We’ve had one land in our bush before in DAYLIGHT and our front garden set on fire. LUCKILY, our neighbour was gardening and saw and put the fire out. What if no one was around or in? Turns out it was a barbecue down the road. Absolutely senseless.
I think they should be banned all together .unless they are at a professional show . They drive my dogs crazy and go on for weeks .

I don’t think the public should be allowed to buy fireworks really. We are suffering from wildfires from them at the moment. It’s been very smoky outside for days and the smoke is setting my asthma off. It has been under control since I was a kid but I am needing ventolin now.
Also I have ptsd so unexpected loud noises are really upsetting and can give me bad flashbacks. In autumn I have to avoid going out as much.
The harm they cause to wildlife alone is enough reason to ban them outright tbh.
