The Falklands are one of the few geopolitical issues that seems to have a clear moral side. Before the war Britain was in talks to transfer the islands to Argentina, but then pulled out of the negotiations after the population objected and stated they wanted to remain British.
There was a referendum in 2013 and just 3 voted to leave Britain. Not 3%, *3 people*. The population desperately don’t want to be Argentinian, and Argentina has never had permanent long term control of the islands. The islands were uninhabited before european settlement.

The moment the useless Argentine political class starts bleating about the Falkland Islands then one or more of the following is true -The economy is in the shitter and / or there is a major political scandal going to break / has broken and / or the prospect of a discovery of oil is in the press.
This Argentinian stunt should have massive consequences. Imagine if England won and held a banner saying „South Ireland belongs to England“ . Imagine if a Russian team held a flag saying that Ukraine will belong to Russia. Imagine if Turkey held a flag saying that Armenia will belong to the Turkish. Imagine if the USA held a banner saying Greenland would be the 51st State.
Argentina is demanding colonial expansion and this is essentially a threat of violence against a sovereign nation. Argentina previously invaded Falklands and killed civilians. Falklands Have been British since before Argentina was a country. The only credible claim Argentina has to the island is that they are closer, which is NOT how the modern world works.
Every player and team member involved in this stunt should be fined and excluded from at least their next match in the World Cup. This isn’t just a banned political message, it is a threat of violence against a nation and a threat against democratically mandated freedom from being Argentinian.
It’s wild that getting absolutely shit on and losing the lives of 649 young boys is some kind of rally for the cause. It really upsets me as an Englishman, absolutely needless deaths of young boys, the whole sabre rattling from millionaire football players, the vice president of Argentina,
