The US has been kicking Canada in the balls daily for over a year. Threatening an extra kick tomorrow doesn’t carry the weight they think it does.
Incredible that they’re not interested in protecting the environment but are willing to use economic warfare to pressure a neighboring country. The American people are watching their country implode and their „elected officials“ are monitizing the process.
These people still honestly think raking the forests is an actual good idea.
I dont know how many of you have ever been in the bush up north. Its dense. Its wild. Its not very accessible.
The best we can do it throw water on it. Look at some fire maps, these fires are enormous.
Could they be any worse neighbours? Should we have sanctioned them for the California wildfires instead of sending them firefighters to help like a bunch of chumps?
We urgently need to pull back all resources currently deployed to firefighting wildfires in the US, in order to address these demands and show that we are sparing no effort to ‚manage our forests‘. It’s what they want, right? And as Trump repeatedly says, the US doesn’t need or want anything from Canada.
Of course all the signatories to the letter are Trump allies. Performative bullshit is all they know. And all of these chodes have no doubt spent their political careers denying climate change. Double standards are the only standards they have.
Kinda ironic. Longer more intense periods of drought and thus more forest fires are attributable to increasing CO2 in the atmosphere. The unwillingness of the US to reduce CO2 release makes that country a major cause of the problem they are complaining about.
Moreno’s fellow Ohio senate seat is up for election this year as it has been left vacated by JD Vance. It’s neck and neck between the GOP and Dems. Ohio’s number one export partner (over 30% of exports, more the 6 next partners combined) is Canada. Ohio also imports at lot from Canada but this mostly oil for its refineries. If there is a state that must be really annoyed with Trump’s handling of trade with Canada, it’s Ohio. I’m guessing Mr Moreno is trying to create something to distract the voters.
I think we should stop sending Canada’s waterbombers over to the States when they have wildfires. Like Trump says, there’s nothing the USA need from Canada.
What about when California was on fire, we had smoke up here, did we sanction. Nope we sent firefighters to help.
At this point, f*ck them all.
