The full weight of the German government should be used to stamp out foreign election interference if there’s any sign of it.
So the scheme was announced, but Germany doesn’t do anything ?
Well, the funding will be for those seeking to “address national sovereignty“ (among others).
Let the German Government apply for this funding, and use it to avert the scheme to preserve national sovereignty.
No interference needed, the current government is already involved in multiple MAGA foundations.

Personally, I’m a fan of this administration interfering in democratic elections of western countries. Trump is such toxic poison that all the candidates he’s been actively backing overseas take a hit in the polls. Canada’s Labour party was incredibly unpopular after Trudeau and should have been easily beaten by the populist right wing candidate….. until the Trump admin decided to get involved. Orban was backed by Trump admin and suffered a loss.
I think if German voters, and other EU voters, see what glory the Trump like candidates bring to a country it really helps them clear their senses…. at least temporarily.

Far right figures like Steve Bannon and others have been working to destabalize democracies using technology for a decade now.
There is a whole global political movement that have been pushing „MAGA causes“ for most of my adult life.
These are people who’ve been closely aligned with people like Trump since the beginning. They’ve been doing it quite effectively in service of politicians and technocrats in a more covert way but it was still happening even if it wasn’t publicly declared.
