Morocco has signed a legal framework to participate in an international stabilization force for post-Hamas Gaza, becoming the first major Arab military power to formally commit personnel under the US backed peace plan.
The force would help secure humanitarian zones, protect civilians and support future governance, while Israel would remain responsible for dismantling Hamas.
The article argues that the agreement strengthens the Abraham Accords and creates a new security partnership between Morocco, Israel and the United States.
Interesting. Morocco recognized Israel as a country in 2020. Then Israel in return recognized Western Sahara as part of Morocco.
Meanwhile Somalia doesn’t recognize Israel and hence Israel had to make a deal with Somaliland instead that now recognizes Israel and Israel recognizes it as as country.
It does seem quite stupid to not recognize Israel at all and only recognize Palestine when your own nation has exactly the same national conflict.
What does worry one is who exactly offered to place troops in Gaza. Turkey that hates Israel more than any other nation with a leader constantly calling for war with Israel. Indonesia that doesn’t even recognize Israel and where Jews are unsafe. And now Morocco that only has acknowledged the existence of Israel since Trump. These nations likely don’t merely plant to keep peace. They all hate Israel. Rather one should consider UN or NATO troops.
If it’s Syria or Iraq then go ahead use Morocco troops.
What is a „Post Hamas Gaza“ and how is that expected to be achieved?
Might aswell target a „Post Israel Palestine.“ That would be better for everyone anyway.
This agreement does nothing at all to achieve anything. You could get dozens of countries to sign similar MOUs. It would be just as meaningless.
Like many parts of the so-called US plan, it will probably never come to fruition. The Hamas conflict is far from being over, and little to none of this plan is likely to endure past Trump’s second term.
This is a farce and anyone can see through it. It doesn’t shatter anything nor will anything come of it much like the developments with Lebanon
We know what narrative to expect from ynetnews
the title mixes information and ridiculous advocacy „shattering islamist narratives and redefining Middle east security“.
No thank you I’ll pass on that article.
Im laughing so hard at them calling Morocco an „arab power“
Morocco is a major arab power?
Morocco is taking sides in a very consistent way since 2020 and grasping profits that come from it. Their relationship with the US has gone ever stronger and still with more news to come.
Personally I think they have a much more meaningful activity than their neighbor Algeria, which has since foundation followed mistaken IR policies and are paying for it.
