Its almost as if our flagship carrier should be state-owned and not every route ran on a strictly for-profit basis…

“Aer Lingus has reported operating profits of €282m for the year to the end of December, a jump of €77m (37.5%) from 2024, despite additional competition in the transatlantic market.”
That Dublin to Denver flight ment a lot to me personally.. every time I’d show up at DIA and I saw the green machine, I felt a little closer to home. Having access meant I got home more in the last few years than before. That fucking sucks.

I used the Vegas flight, flew twice since it was announced. Full flight, a lot of business travellers due to the convention space, not just party goers.
Awful shit city, go for a kick off or convention and get the fuck out. Disappointed it’s gone because now I can’t fly direct, making my experience more shit.

This is a bit of a shame. Direct narrowbody flights were a bit of a secret power for Aer Lingus that I was hoping would pay off.

If only we had a cheaper airline who will fly you to Leitrim (if they can find the secret entrance to it) or around half of Europe

No more direct flight to Vegas, damn!

Hang on a minute, what do you mean no routes out of Dublin? Do they fly in and just never leave?

Hmmm ..All I know is that if its on a Route with Ryanair , its always significantly more expensive , when I multiply by 4 people , its just too much
Ive looked at destinations that they fly and Ryanair don’t and say to myself „Ah ,I’ll go somewhere else“ , again 500-700 for flights
So Ive flown with them twice in maybe 5 years one way …..Don’t get me wrong , lovely airline to fly with but not for an extra 500 plus euro
We’re selling Ireland, its housing and its businesses to the highest bidders so we can grab some extra money.. turns out international companies who exist to make money don’t care about Ireland or its people and cut jobs and services to make more money.
Let’s not pretend to be surprised and at least accept this is part of the deals we’re making.

IAG needs to make a decision: either commit to Aer Lingus or step aside. Right now, the only realistic way to protect the airline’s service standards may be to bring it back under state ownership.

So there’s no concern about making profits, they just want *more* while providing a shittier service.
They closed their base in Manchester after only a couple of years which caused the bulk of their loss in Q1.
I bet the person who opened it won’t be one of the ones let go.

You mean the passenger cap wasn’t actually the blocker airlines complained about?
Can’t understand cutting the Frankfurt route, it’s easily one of their busiest daily routes.
