      We should all get behind Argentina. There’s a fantastic history of connections between our countries and it is the non-English speaking country with the largest Irish diaspora in the world.

      Gonna root for the Brits tonight.. so please God we have a Spain v England final, and living here in Spain, knowing heaps of Brits- would be a beautiful thing to see them come close, but have Spain batter them in the final.

      Also, English people are masters of pretending they don’t care about their neighbours cheering against them while simultaneously having a meltdown every time it happens.

      For kane to score an own goal in the 98th minute?

      For the crowd to boo their own team?

      For Bellingham to blame Tuchel and Tuchel to blame Bellingham.

      As an Englishman I’m treating tonight like the final. If we win that’ll do for me. While if we lose I get the pretty fun consolation of seeing one of Spain or Argentina lose on Sunday. Can’t stand either of them (Spain mostly because they’re such a brilliant boringly smugly efficient football team, and that playacting from Simon when already 2-0 up yesterday was diabolical)

      Tis the only way, they get so close but then have it snatched from their grasp, Bellingham sends it over the bar and then we get all the jokes about where it landed etc.

      I want England to win the whole tournament as there would be nothing funnier to me than them winning the World Cup on American soil on the 250th anniversary of their independance from Britain.
