ICBC und CCB blieben positiv, während Agricultural Bank of China, China Merchants, Postal Savings und Bank of Communications rückläufig waren.

Commonwealth bank gotta be up there as one of if not the most outsized market cap relative to its serviced population

ESPECIALLY since I think it’s the only one of the big 4 that doesn’t serve NZ

Cool graph! Good color codind and I like the small insightful conclusion texts.

However I find Equity is not necessarily a great metric to measure a banking group’s performance. They hold so much debt. A quick search tells me the French banking sector controls many more assets (nearly 3x more) and generates 50% more profits than the Spanish one. BNP alone is 2.7 trillion in assets vs only 132 billion in equity because of all the debt.

I believe it would give more insights to establish a double metric graph with Equity vs Profits or Equity vs Assets.

Can you define how you are using the term bank?

Are you counting only the banking portion of each entity? As in JPM and Schwab both have a banking and a brokerage components.

Is the term financial institution a better description?

    5. Why does one category say „Asia and the middle east“ then have only one bank from the middle east that is in Asia anyway, and 4 Australian banks that are not Asian or middle eastern????

    6. Surprised that Germany has no entries here. Anyone know why that is the case?

Damn. Deutsche Bank doesn’t even make the cut for Europe. $69B mkt cap.

    8. How the hell do you include the „Hong Kong – Shanghai Business Corporation“ as a European bank?

If the clues not in the name, it’s corporate headquarters **remain** in Hong Kong.

This doesn’t look right. Largest banks are chinese.

Edit: my bad, you’re doing market cap so then ok. If you were measuring by assets Chinese banks are much larger.
