According to MAGA USDOT Sean Duffy NYC Congestion pricing has caused more damage than the bombing of Hiroshima.
If congestion pricing didn’t reduce congestion I’d be surprised. It’s an economic toll to reduce congestion, it should work unless the toll is too low
I’ve worked in NYC and am familiar with the holland tunnel congestion. I’ve seen it with my own eyes.
So how does this congestion pricing work? Presumably X number of people need to travel through the tunnel. So the toll goes up and… those people use psychic forces to teleport now? Where do they go? Or does the pricing just make them give up and go home?
Certainly neat to see, but I’d be curious to see public transit ridership before and after this change and – if possible – a net overall change to commute time.
My hypothesis is that this primarily made driving cost prohibitive for lower income people, which pushes them towards public transit that – even if NYC has excellent systems relative to the rest of the US – increases more peoples commute times than it helps.
It hurts my side buisness but overall it has done wonders for traffic so I still support it.
Why does travel time on Williamsburg Bridge have a sharp spike at midnight?
Now we need one for train delays before and after as well since everyone just crammed into njt and just changed transportation method
