> Willows won with 1,184 votes (or 39.65 per cent of the vote), a 229-vote margin lead over Liberal candidate Robert Mitchell, who came second with 955 votes (31.98 per cent). PC Candidate Caley McDonald came third with 823 votes (27.56 per cent) and NDP Candidate Craig Nash came fourth with 24 votes (0.80 per cent).
Interestingly, Mitchell didn’t rule out stepping down as leader. With only 9-15 months until the next election, I don’t think he will, but he didn’t rule it out.
Greens on driver’s seat now.
No surprise there though. PEI Greens have shown the ability to win both rural and urban seats, and it’s a likeable party with MacFarlane era so far proving to be in good shape.
It also vindicates Narrative for proving people wrong over their doubts. Their NB poll was right around everybody expected, and their PE poll clearly looked possible considering how big of swings you’d get in the island.
The Numbers guys were skeptical about that one poll showing rising Green support in PEI. I guess the voters proved them wrong. Very interesting development.
