I wonder why Trump would like to get rid of a institution wich could potentially convict him of criminal behavior. Trump is on the side of Putin,Xi and Netanyahu.

I would assume only international criminals have anything against an international criminal court.

Which underscores within Canada (and hopefully adds pressure on the government) the lack of support by the government to the Canadian ICC judge sanctioned by the Americans.

Canada must defend this critical underpinning of the rules based system that the US, Russia, and China are looking to undermine.

Crazy how he’s Dementia Donnie’s lapdog but, as an anchor baby, he wouldn’t even be a citizen if this admin had it’s way.

    5. >The US is not a state party to the Rome Statute. The US participated in the negotiations that led to the creation of the court. However, in 1998 the **US was one of only seven countries – along with China, Iraq, Israel, Libya, Qatar, and Yemen – that voted against the Rome Statute.**

      From the [US Justice Department](https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-rejects-international-criminal-court-jurisdiction-over-us-persons#:~:text=The%20United%20States%20is%20not,country):

      >The United States is not a party to the Rome Statute and has never consented to the ICC’s authority. As a matter of international law, a treaty cannot bind a non-consenting country

      Does this guy know this?

Weird thing to say after news comes out that you are basically the viceroy of Venezuela.

    9. Furthering the „Americans are toddlers with a gun, we’re all worried they’re going to hurt others or themselves“ belief.

How does a US citizen vow to dismantle something they aren’t a part of lmao

    11. The only people who want it gone are the one’s doing illegal things. Maybe don’t do illegal things. And fuck off.

    12. They’re worried that a future Dem POTUS will let Trump be tried for war crimes.

Non-Rome statute parties can be referred to the ICC by the Security Council. Which can obviously be vetoed by the USA.

Hey, you dismantled the US justice system , but don’t come knocking on anyone else’s door!

    14. Just to be clear, the
United States is not a party to the ICC’s founding treaty, the Rome Statute, and has never recognized the court’s jurisdiction over American citizens.

He just doesn’t want key officials ( like himself) to have justice when he takes a vacation to Barcelona in 10 years.

Tough shit, stop supporting an authoritarian takeover you little bitch.

The US has never abided by their rulings but now want to control it to protect putin and bibi

    16. Does Rubio think he has a shot at more after this admin?

Dudes gonna be kicked to the curb and the post Trump maga civil war isn’t going to be kind to those trying to be the heir

    17. If this isn’t a “are we the bad guys?” Moment I don’t know what is.

    18. HARRYSH0ULDERS on

Ah yes, one would want to ‚dismantle‘ the International Criminal Court when one may eventually be tried by it.

    19. How to admit you’re committing war crimes without saying you’re committing war crimes.

    20. All_Hail_Hynotoad on

Rubio has truly revealed himself to be a small and pathetic traitor. Far worse than I could have ever imagined. He must be impeached and kicked out of government forever.

    21. Maoleficent on

I wonder if it is because this American administration (as well as most other administrations) has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity and do not want to face justice?

    22. There goes any notion that Republicans are defenders of human rights and decency.

    23. Head-Professor-61 on

Pretty disgusting comment really, it demonstrates that the USA feel they should not be part of any global agreements and rather that the world should only be run the way they want it.
USA is a terrible power crazed isolationist society with no respect for other countries or their ideas.

    24. nick2473got on

You can’t dismantle an international organization that you aren’t a part of and have zero authority over.

You’d think trained lawyer Marco Rubio would know this, but I suppose American legal education has been a bit shit these recent decades.
