Ich bin um die ganze Welt gereist und habe dort gelebt, und doch habe ich noch nie ein solches Ausmaß an Straßenkriminalität gesehen. Es ist schwierig, ein so hohes Maß an Straßenkriminalität zu finden, die nur als „Kinder“ abgetan wird.
Ich verstehe, dass dies vielleicht nicht die Mehrheit der Teenager ist, aber es fühlt sich auf jeden Fall wie ein guter Teil davon an.
Und die Garda macht keinen Scheiß. Auf dem Höhepunkt gesetzlos.

Agree. So many scrotes just running around. No interest in doing anything constructive with their lives. just get the dole and wreck everyone elses property/life etc.. I often wonder why these guys can’t be given mandatory community projects to try to improve the environment. If they dont attend, dock their dole.
Yeah ive had similar experiences in dublin over the last year. Everyone at work that ive spoken to brushes it off like its nothing. Not sure why the Irish are so accepting of youths tormenting people.
Shit parents and a soft country. Parents getting handouts for generations and learning less and less in school. Just learning enough how to play the system. There’s no discipline, work ethic , respect in these families. It grab what you can and f everyone else. I think its almost reaching breaking point now. And it’s not only kids from those families, I know well to do families have kids like that too. Also it feels like there’s nothing for kids to do. They don’t play as much sport. Seem to just hang around all day.

People here deal with truth with jokes like you can see on the comments but it’s true.. I love it here mostly but this is one of few things I really despise about Ireland.. the lack of accountability on parents for their kids actions and behaviour, unless you’re an immigrant then they sure will feel free to tell you and shame you for your kids behaviour

1. Extreme overgeneralisation – most teenagers in Ireland are grand. There’s definitely a problem that needs addressing, but you seem like you should be old enough to know the difference between identifying a problem and collective guilt.
2. Extreme exaggeration – those scrotes are bad, they can be dangerous. But Ireland comes nowhere fucking close to most places in the world. Most places in North and South America, a good chunk of Europe, most of Asia and Africa too. Eggs was your example. Head off there to a favela in Rio or Johannesburg and bring an egg with you for defence. If you come back with your wallet, I’ll give a tenner.
Where exactly were you in Africa were there was less street crime?
ive had my car vandalised several times by them and the guards just say ‚ah kids‘, yeah it is kids but they can be more than annoying, one of the reasons i want to move away somewhere quiet if i can ever manage it, as for africa, i dont ireland can be compared to anywhere there, different level by far, ill take the eggs over my life

Theres a really sinister ‚boys will be boys‘ culture. Its not just working class. Kids are allowed to be feral in cafes, shops, hotels in a way kids arent allowed in other countries. Theres no consequences for ‚acting the maggot‘ right up to serious juvenile delinquency.
Coming home from Spain. 6 months without seeing any antisocial behavior. Bus home from airport, bunch of little shits throwing water balloons with dirty water in them at the bus. Lots of foreigners/visitors on the bus. Let me tell you, it’s not a good impression. Ireland has a major youth anti social problem MUCH worse than many places I have been. Anecdotal observation but it’s palpable
Got the 401 bus out to Salthill in Galway yesterday evening. A group of traveler teenagers shouting and roaring, antagonising people and throwing bottles and cans at people. Bus had to be stopped as people needed to get off for their own safety.
Then I got to Salthill are there were droves of feral teenagers roaming around the place. Necked two pints and went straight back into the city which was better.
People are a bit too loose with comparisons. You don’t need armed tour guide to safely walk around Ireland.
As a young adult who dresses a bit out of the norm i cannot count the amount of times i have been harrased and followed by yup bros like the ones you described. As a teen it made me genuinely not want to leave the house because random groups of lads id never met would shout slurs at me as i walked past them. I dont care for it much anymore but even the other day i was walking my dog in town and a group of them tried to throw some rocks at me i genuinely dont understand how people can act like that for no reason but its rampant with young men in this country
Anti social youths are a big problem in this country and the Garda can’t do anything to them because of their age.
The justice system is too soft.
These scumbags grow up, thinking they are untouchable and can get away with anything with no fear of punishment or consequences.
If it was up to me, the Garda would get the power and authority to properly punish scum who need to be taught a lesson.
Also, I would have some of these anti social youth be forcibly put into the Irish army to teach them respect and discipline. Might turn some of them into decent people and give them a new career path going forward.

As a teenager I completely agree, even though I’m not one of them I don’t go around in groups of 10 acting like this big bad wolf from that little children’s story. Most wannabe thugs that are around my age don’t even go near me because they probably have a feeling that I would call the police (in which I won’t since Idfk their number) but it’s also because of my calm composure and tall figure. Yes I might be as tall and as big as a bodyguard but that doesn’t assume I’m a dick
One thing we learned during the pandemic is a lot of parents view their kids as more of a societal responsibility rather than their own and expect schools to do all the work in raising them. I think this is what leads to a lot of teens lacking in discipline and thinking they can do whatever they want to the public since there’s no real consequences to it.

I am sorry for your bad experience, but the vast majority of teenagers in my experience are respectful and polite.
I used bristle at the generalization of teens and teenage behaviour when I was that age, and there were scrotes around then too.
I am genuinely disgusted by what happened to you. They deserve a kicking. But Irish teenagers are not all like that, no more than all Spanish or all German teenagers are guilty of misbehavior solely due to their age.

Having been to other parts of the world, including your own homeland OP, either you’re very privileged or remarkably sheltered. I fully agree that the scrotes who attacked you, probably because of your appearance, need a good fucking hiding but if your threshold for „high levels of street crime“ is getting egged while someone shouts slurs at you then honestly I don’t how to help you.
To be clear I don’t think you should have engaged with the scumbags, just walking away was the better play and the legal system needs to be dramatically overhauled to discourage this kind of assault. Hysteria about it isn’t helping though.
We have some dickheads actively destroying our children’s park. I’ve kicked them out several times. It was getting out of hand and I took pictures of them destroying the fence to gain entry. Shared the picture in the hope of one their parents would see it but was scolded in the community group chat for taking pictures of teenagers. What can you do.
