Tetris showing yet again it helps with PTSD and other similar stuff. Wonder why?
I wonder if this is because Tetris is a mindful activity. I played Tetris while listening to overwhelming, loud music for like three weeks straight after my last breakup, and it did indeed help. Fully occupied by brain with thoughts that didn’t hurt.
Wonder if it’s similar to EMDR
What a fascinating area of research! (I mean that sincerely)
Does anyone happen to have an easy way of playing a simple form (like the old game boy game) of tetris (ideally with buttons) without lots of flashing/blinking/etc. or advertisements?
What did they use for tetris playing in the study?
Did it have the classic music, new versions, or none?
Ask me how many Big Fish Games I played after terrifying births.
Interestingly, participants often said the biggest benefit wasn’t Tetris itself. Many felt that recalling and talking (or writing) about the birth experience was what really helped, while Tetris mainly felt calming. So the intervention may work through a combination of memory interference and more general therapeutic effects.
It’s EMDR, just the kind you don’t need insurance for.
Who the hell came up with this study?!
Other women can remember their childbirth experience? Mine is like a fever dream that slips away more and more each day, and I just gave birth a month ago.
I wonder if this applies to other puzzle games like mahjong and solitaire.
