The original book is Czech, but the cartoon series was produced by Germany or some country like that and animation was done in Korea or Japan if I recall.

That is is kinda funny because here in Czechia one of the most popular kid cartoons at the time was Maya the Bee (みつばちマーヤの冒険) and a lot of people don’t know that it was made in Japan.
