To tell you the truth most Ukrainians respect these units for the post war fight against the soviets, not wartime activity.

To nie jest problem prawdy lub historii to problem plemienny. Ludzie (abstrahując kto) napierdalaja się jako plemiona i będą to robić do końca świata. Ukraińcy są w tym momencie dużo bardziej zjednoczeni niż Polacy.

To anyone that knows more history than what polish media speak about these days, this should be an understandable decision.
Volhynia massacre is not the entire history of UPA. It played a key role in the history of Ukraine, being pretty much the only force fighting for independent Ukraine in WW2.
On the same note, Lithuania, Czechia, Slovakia and Ukraine should require from us to remove all schools and streets named after Józef Piłsudski. Lithuania should also claim from us the removal of all statues and memorials of Romuald Rajs. Slovaks (and Jews) – removal of those for Józef Kuraś. We can build a fairly long list here if we follow the history closely. It is no secret AK was also killing civilians. It is no secret some Polish formations were killing Holocaust survivors.
I know we have a huge victim complex as this is the way they teach history in schools, but as you read into the details of our history, especially post-WWI you lose the sense Poland was always the innocent state that kept getting unfairly attacked from each side and never did anything wrong.
Of course none of the above compares to the scale of Volhynia massacre. But it’s not a thing to compare, like, who killed more of who and who was more brutal. It’s a history almost 100 years old. Back then, there were no saints, and each side was doing horrifying things to achieve independence and get their nation to survive in the European boiling pot.
So maybe stop this indignation festival and let them have it. They already allowed exhumations in Volhynia, so Poles will get the respect for the dead as they want. Exhumations are happening as we speak, journalists were not allowed to document the process, so there’s not much media coverage.

It isn’t. Zelensky (and his party got a majority) was elected on liberal populist platform contrary to his opponent who turned to staunch nationalism late in his term. He was avoiding UPA glorification for years until it became useful to him after a corruption scandal.

The most sad thing is that OUN was somewhat popular of Western Ukraine and Western Ukraine only.
While the majority on Ukraine fought OUN and Nazis and paid a crucial role in the USSR.
Yet now we act like only OUN we’re actually Ukrainians and other folks were not
