      She would be the first female and the first non white Labour leader, and she holds social attitudes which are genuinely representative of the traditional working class, of Labour voters and the electorate more widely. That looks like it will be the moderate path not taken.

      Jailed for 22 years in 2012 and released in 2026. Get him back in fucking jail till at least 2032 and have him immediately removed on release then. DUH 🙄

      This is not the ECHR or any of the other laws that Immigrants generally use to appeal deportations. This is not going to impact Asylum seekers or illegal immigrants or any of the current issues regarding immigration. They are talking about changing a specific section of the 1971 Immigration act that protects commonwealth citizens who were residents at least 5 years before the act came into force (1973).

      Its performative.

      It will take up to a year (according to the article) to pass the law, assuming no issues or redrafts required. Then there will inevitably be challenges and appeals in court. Then however long it will take for the actual deporting process. It could easily take years. All to deport the exactly one person impacted by the exemption who is already 73.
