They are bleeding Money because of AI this is them cutting everything else not admitting that the AI is the gunshot wound.

It’s fascinating watching them dismantle themselves real time.

Meanwhile, Nintendo quietly partying that both major competitors just shot themselves in the foot.

    3. EVP of HR Amy Coleman needs to be fired. “The industry is changing so we must change with it.”

Microsoft used to be an industry leader and set the trend. Now we follow others? What?!? This is the tone of a dying company.

Further, the world should be angry with the Microsoft’s of the world performing mass layoffs for nearly 4 years straight. Most of the 5,000 people laid off will get a few weeks severance, then fuck you and your kids while we go on to make record profits.

On top of that, Microsoft just canceled its headspace subscription. So seeing your friends lives ruined causing you stress? No headspace access for you. It’s like they want the remaining employees to become unhinged and quit so they don’t have to pay severance.

Microsoft is in full corporate greed mode and its employees are paying the price. Fire Satya, fire Amy Hood, and fire Amy Coleman.

It’s kinda messed up that AI is destroying everything before it even becomes self aware. Damn.

Companies continue to lose money, and lay people off. Yet my stock portfolio is growing at a solid rate. It’s amazing how we ruin everything, our jobs, our communities and our health all for the stock market and hedge fund managers.

Remember when sustainability and who you did business with mattered?

I hope this AI bs just eats them all up. It would be so satisfying if AI became our downfall, not because it got smart and took over everything, but because they kept chasing the AI butterfly right off a cliff. In the end, no boogeyman is coming to get us. We’re fucking ourselves up just fine without any assistance.

    7. Firing 5,000 employees due to AI then hiring 5,000 imported indians. You can’t make this shit up. Enshittification of everything.

I know someone that has a very small Indie Game Dev Studio, if anyone impacted is looking for remote work. I don’t think it’s salary though, sadly, I think they’re profit share.

I have never taken a business course in my life. Im fully confident that i could turn public opinion of Microsoft around within 2 years.

Why didn’t Microsoft save money by getting rid of physical discs, instead of having to lay off all their studios (RIP Id)???

Video game market will crash, just not for the CEOs that get richer and that really isn’t fucking fair. There’s a special place in hell for these CEOs.

    12. Imagine telling yourself 20 years ago that Nintendo would be the winner and only survivor of the console wars.

I mean, the entire industry could disappear and I’d still never get through my steam backlog.

    14. Let that gaming world die. Won’t miss the yearly call of duties and various other activion/blizzard slop.

Let other people take the market with better products. Look at path of exile, free and better than current year diablo.

At the end of the day Xbox leadership thought that being more hands off would allow the studios to thrive and that the games would drive Gamepass growth.

They were wrong. They mismanaged studios leading to absurdly long dev timelines, a large number of flat out failures that led to game cancellations, and were left with a stable of games that simply are not profitable.

    16. Man i can see the timeline:

2030: The last programmer is fired. Microsoft only employs managers now. Programming is completely done by ai vibecoding. Profits are over 120 billion.

2034: Microsoft is now essentially subscription based. Doing anything required asking the ai. Subscription goes around 5 bucks per month but is tiered like a usage system.

2036: Microsoft spends 40 billion in the american election.

2037: A law is signed making Microsoft the only legal operating system

2039: Microsoft ups the price of subscription

2041: Microsoft ups the price of subscription

2060: While the rest of the world has quantum computers with real genuine ai, america has still microsoft which didnt change much from 2030 onwards, only now its full of ads and bugs.

      Something like that

No the gaming world is not in utter chaos and this is not a catastrophe. These corporations shitting the bed is very good since their products have been deteriorating for years, plus all the anti-consumer practices. Yeah they can all burn. Others will replace them

    18. I think it should read „Console gaming world….“ not „Gaming world…“

I feel bad for my console gamer fam…but global gaming catastrophe it isn’t.

And yet after letting go 3k+ Americans the new Xbox CEO is wanting to bring on 5k H1B visas

We need better games. Learn from 007, Ghost of Tsushima, Yotei. God of war. Don’t make crap games. Yes. Same COD with a bull shit multiplayer gaming. Pathetic.

Stock go up! Pinnacle of our economy. I don’t think our own president even checks any other indicators. As long as his own investments are increasing I think he calls it a day and thinks the economy is fantastic.

They laid off 4800 people. It’s why unions exist this behavior impacted 4800.May have been different under a union contract.

Fuck Microsoft dude. Fuck Sony. Fuck all these people. I hope the employees find work and are ok but these corporations are fucking up so many things.

The gaming industry is a total shit show right now but it’s not unique in the sense that these corporations and the people who run them seem to be fundamentally incapable of rational thought to pretty much any extent, but somehow they find ways to offset the cost of their incompetence onto consumers or (former) employees

    24. My company laid off a huge amount of tech workers recently in order to give us more copilot tokens. A lot of BAs, QAs and a few devs. I know they will try to hire at cheaper rate and local since they mandated RTO. I’m probably gonna be in the next wave ngl. They’re eliminating a bunch of seniors at the company(people who have been working for long term and know the project best regardless of their role). It’s very scary. They really don’t care about lost knowledge. AI will figure it out.

Amazing how a product can be so overwhelmingly popular, still be selling just fine, and somehow be ‚unprofitable‘ over time with the rent seeking these companies demand. This is how capitalism kills off good things.
