Cmon he would make a great politician. Who doesn’t love Patrick Dempsey?

He has been a healthcare advocate for some time.

      He’s a righteous dude.

    3. Patrick Dempsey aside, the underlying story makes me furious. NOT because the candidate is being forced to resign (although there is a possibility the accusations are politically motivated and he deserves a chance to defend himself), but because a Republican candidate in a similar situation would never resign. This makes me recall the Al Franken « scandal », which ended his career, but which seems like a giant nothing burger in comparison to the confirmed behaviour of the current president and his cronies.

    4. I think that’s where we’re at. Name recognition. No politics as usual. Sod it. Anyone can run, just say you’ll surround yourself with smart people who know how to game the system. You’ll make sure it gets done.

Grey’s Anatomy was on ABC. So, here’s your campaign slogan..

      ABC: Anybody But Collins

    6. Or you could go with Troy Jackson, the progressive politician actually favored to replace Platner

      What a strange article

? No. The former president of the Maine senate, Troy Something (sorry) is a much better candidate than a celebrity who knows nothing about life for a normal person.

    8. YES! Just what America needs- another celebrity who knows zero about how govt works.
Americans- how have you become this idiotic?

      I dunno man….

I heard that when he lived in Arizona, he paid a teenaged girl $1,000 to pretend to be his girlfriend for a month.

I can’t help but think that Platner guy is another Fetterman..plain and simple.

So he’d go from McDreamy to McSenator?

I’m kinda over celebrities running for office.

Total BS article. Their source is a far right tabloid known for making things up simply suggesting that he „could“ be a wildcard.

    13. I live in Maine. *The Maine Wire*’s as credible as *Infowars* or *The Daily Caller. 🙄*

He has operated on so many brains, he probably has enough leftovers for a second one.

Homeboy was kicked off Greys for abuse and being in general an asshole. It checks out he’s running for a political position.

Can we not normalize actors to get into politics? Same thing with news broadcasters. Just cuz you can read a teleprompter or cue cards does not mean you’re qualified to run any type of government. I will die on the Hill.

I really wish candidates could be more well vetted. This is so sad. He should step aside if true. I have my suspicions about her claims however. She should have come forward when it occurred not just because he’s running for office. If she was willing to let it slide until now perhaps Maine voters should let it slide as well.

    18. Not sure about this. I heard that he once paid a high school girl to pretend to be his girlfriend. Not a good look.

Enjoy more Susan Collins AmeriKKKa. We are getting what our shortsighted apathetic voters deserve

    20. I wonder if democrats have considered that policies to benefit the working class are what made Platner popular? The democrat party is gop light. They may put on a friendly face where the gop does not, but their goals are exactly the same. The goal of both parties is to benefit the ruling class, the corporations, the billionaires and trillionaires.

Working people share very little in common with these people that rule our lives. We need to recognize that workers have more in common with one another, whether you’re from this country or that, straight or gay, black or white… We share the struggle of the working class and we share no struggles with the ruling class.

We are being dominated by capital while ignoring our own personal and shared interests. You are not oppressed because of immigrants. You are not oppressed because of trans people. You are oppressed because of the insatiable need to acquire more and more wealth by like 20 people.

    21. The Democrats are even more fearful of any social lean than Republicans are. People will see exactly how corrupt they are.
