      It is so nice, but if everyone goes to see it, it will be incredibly crowded.

      Not a fan of people recording themselves crying on camera, but it is her experience.

      Relevant tangent: I used to volunteer in the Dominican Republic as an interpreter for international organizations. One day we were going around the village fixing people’s roofs when I noticed that one of the kids had a picturesque photo of an alpine village/chalet on his wall.

      I asked him what it represented to him and he said „fantasy…“

      Made me secretly emotional.

      So as much as I dislike the post I’m not going to mock the emotions she’s exhibiting because I don’t know her background/situation.

      Perhaps her family also had a similar photo up on their wall, and she’s the only one that was able to make that fantasy a reality.

      Why are some of the people in the comments so grimm? Her reaction seemed so natural and sweet. As a swiss, I agree with her!

      Yeah I get it. Shit looks literally like a painting.

      We sometimes are too close to it to appreciate it enough, because for us it’s „normal“.

      Not sure how the Swiss manage to market their alps so well. The same mountain chain covers France, Italy, France and Slovenia and yet the Swiss ones for some reason have a different “reputation”.

      Personally I find the dolomites much more pretty given their bright color, and all of them have elements of uniqueness, but the Swiss do it better. Perhaps because Italy and France have a lot more than the mountains, while Austria has Wien. Either way whatever they do they do it very well

      When I was a child, I always wanted to go to places like Ulan Bator, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, you get the drift.

      So, this one day, I stood at a crossing in Timbuktu. Actually in Timbuktu.

      I totally teared up and had the most difficult time to hide the tears from my husband.

      I, me, actually was here, in this fabled city.

      Sometimes, when your dream comes true, it’s almost too much to bear.

      I’m from India and went to Interlaken from Lucerne. The whole landscape was so beautiful that I couldn’t believe my eyes at first. This place is heaven.

      Man I live in Aargau, yet everytime I drive direction Lucerne and see the mountains in the distance I get goosebumps. There is just something abt Switzerland that cannot be put into words.

      As someone from far away lands, my trip to Switzerland in winter gave me some of the most beautiful memories (and emptied my wallet). Truly a stunning country!

      As a somewhat recent immigrant in Switzerland, I fully understand and share her feeling. When I go to work I cross the bridge that is over the Rheinfall every morning, it makes me so sad that I spent 20+ years of my life apart from this and people left back home do not get to share this experience. Kudos to her for bringing self awareness and sharing this feeling

      Two weeks in Switzerland completely reset my baseline. When I landed back in the U.S., it honestly felt like I had returned to a country in decline. For a nation with unparalleled wealth and resources, the contrast was impossible to ignore. It was difficult to reconcile the image of the world’s richest nation with what I was actually seeing around me. I know every place has its problems, but never take for granted how lucky you are to live Switzerland.

      I didn’t cry. But I had similar feelings when I saw villages in Switzerland and Norway. Growing up in under privileged counties, pictures of these villages were only seen on a calendar on a wall and sometimes in a movie or a tv. A few years later brought my parents to see it too as this was also a fantasy for them.
