My experience is that there are a lot of Tesla owners who bought in to the hype of the car but dislike Musk; particularly the batsh1t crazy persona that emerged during the Twitter debacle.
I think this is very self explanatory
Virtue signalling in the face of Elon being a ghoul.
They like meaningless gestures while enriching a man they claim to hate.

I read a comment where once someone said you have to separate the product and the person who owns the company. I’d like a Tesla but is that is just propping up Musk by buying his product!
The owners are hoping that their cars are not vandalized by people who dislike Nazi’s because the companies owner is a Nazi, even the Irish owners who bought their beloved Tesla long after that became crystal clear, are hoping for some divine protection in the form of a grovelling 1 euro sticker.
