As someone who was born in eastern europe all I can say is fuck these guys. That wasn’t real communism is the single most infuriating argument I ever heard

    2. Wild_Web3695 on

I only support the people’s revolutionary communist party of Ireland.

      Those other guys are posers

    3. Massive_Path4030 on

He’s not really doing any harm, it’s highly highly unlikely he’ll start a revolution there so let him off

    4. Better than the fascists.

EDIT – I meant Irish fascists.

And im not campatong them to Soviet comminosm.if you have to pick one specific ptactce, youre missomg the point

The RCI have a pretty bad rep among other communist groups lol. They do a lot of newspaper selling and talking about Trotsky, and not much else. Somehow copped the communism ponc ie domain name too

    6. Fair play to him, not everyone would have the courage of their convictions to advocate for them in so public a way

This looks… fine? I can’t really make out the poster on the window though so I’m not sure what you’re on about OP

At least he’s got the balls to stand on a street and face people to explain with his views, almost a quant idea these days when everyone spends their time on platforms created to sell adverts and data.

    9. Honestly I have respect for someone like him willing to go out on the street and discuss his beliefs with the public. I bet he’s a respectful, thoughtful guy who wants to make the world better.

But „Communism“ has become such a taboo word that people just kneejerk start shitting on him for no reason. Leave the guy alone ffs. As if the current system of a few people accumulating trillions of euro worth of assets while billions work hard and still struggle to afford a basic life is somehow an optimal system.

    10. Look, I get young people are angry. Rent is mental, wages don’t go far, and plenty of people are being squeezed. But communism is not the answer.

My parents grew up under the kind of communism that was actually put into practice in Eastern Europe: one-party rule, state control, shortages, censorship and very little personal freedom. That’s not some edgy solution to capitalism being broken.

The countries worth looking at are places like the Nordics: strong welfare, workers’ rights, public healthcare, fair taxes and affordable services, but still democracy, private property and a functioning market.

So yes, be angry at inequality and corporate greed. But don’t romanticise communism. Push for a fairer system, not a failed one.

Also I dont get the point of this post. Does the OP expect us to be like „lol cringe“? He’s doing more to change things than the majority of people that just post shit to get mad at on reddit.

    12. The RCO have done more to successfully deradicalise people interested in socialism than anybody else in Ireland. Anybody who shows an interest is rewarded with selling newspapers every Saturday.

What’s there to unpack? I’ve seen all sorts of people disseminating info about different organisations (and some cults). I’d rather this guy than the Hare Krishna guy who was v miffed and had to let me know about it when he heard that I was a Catholic and not Hindu despite being brown.

    14. On a side note, I’ve been wondering, what’s with those animals made from shapes posters (like the one behind the guy) popping up all over Dublin center?

    15. I seeing alot of people saying socialism has never worked etc etc, when in reality it has done the greatest improvement in living conditions in human history, millions got lifted out of poverty, improved gender equality, defeated fascism and sm more, and yes I’m talking about the ussr n Maoist China, most people have passing knowledge they learnt 20 year ago in school designed by capitalists.

    16. „I’m so busy down on the farm that I won’t have time for the ol‘ Revolutionary Communism..

Capitalism literally inslaves billions of people in low wages and poverty and destroys the lived environment and maybe even the planet but nobody wants to talk about it. Let’s just hope we grow our GDP next quarter. This guy is entitled to his beliefs even if you don’t agree with him.

Poster behind him is bullshit, only one of the seven towers in Ballymun got demolished with explosives.

Nice guy. Trying to make a change. Most folks find it easier to complain or flatten his efforts.

    20. RomfordWellington on

I’d say I’d agree with them with on 50% of stuff at least.

Billionaires just shouldn’t be a thing.

    21. TraditionalHotel8085 on

I wouldn’t agree with everything this guy has to say, but I definitely would agree with him more than your average Dail politician

Capitalism is a deeply flawed system, it has a longer wind up to the other shoe dropping but the other shoe, after about a hundred years of pure Capitalism, has dropped trust me

Giving the markets complete control of our energy, supply lines, finance, housing and regulations has been devastating for us

People keep saying Ireland is rich, its not, its slowly bleeding out, pushing poor people out of the major cities for rich tourists, destroying our food budget at the till because of mass food instability(Capitalism has controlled the global food supply for the last what 100 years?) raising electricity costs to fund data centres that no normal person can find a use for in their daily lives to make things easier, in fact it’s making it worse as you have to constantly reprogramme your older relatives about Ai videos that they have been fooled into believing is real

Capitalism works for the uber wealthy and the increasingly shrinking upper middle class, it’s a ladder pull system, a pyramid scheme, honestly if you defend Capitalism or maintain it only needs a tune up after the craven nature of the market and how it has bred the hellspawn of Thiel and Musk then we aren’t ever going to agree and I will question your intelligence on even the most basic of concepts

Unpack what exactly? I see people handing out flyers and speaking about their religions/political views everyday. It’s one of the great things about living in a free and open society.

Posting this guys pic online with what I suspect is the intention to roast him is what I’d really like to unpack here.

Not sure the point of sticking up some lad running a stall is.

Their politics might not be to your own liking, but they are an active enough organisation with a large enough youth cohort especially online.

I just find this type of thing secondary school in the extreme.

„Oh look at yer man..who wants to unpack this one..? “

Great stuff. Great comment. Real insightful.
