Yeah they can touch on, so ID to use websites along side let’s be honest here unfettered access to your devices communications streams. Are they for real? Heading down a dodgy path here with these two IMO..

They won’t stop until they pass this.

They won’t just use this to stop real crimes…

You’ll be visited by the guards for thinking the wrong way or because you plan to attend a protest.

It’s all about stopping people who disagree with those in power.

Edit because this is so stupid:

All they will be doing is monitoring law abiding citizens. Sure they might catch the dumb criminals at the start but the criminals will just go for other avenues of communication. The only way to achieve what they want is to completely shut down the Internet.

We don’t need EU alternatives for US tech infrastructure – we need completely decentralized dark net alternatives to both, which are easy to use – or we’re heading rapidly to a future where civil liberties and Democracy end.

    4. The EU is compromised. Peter Thiel’s billionaire cult has been exposed and theyre in full panic mode trying to establish their surveillance state across the western world.

We NEED to stop this. Email your representatives people, and keep doing it.

I hope every politician connected to this gets doxed and harassed for the rest of their lives

    6. First time in my life I have genuinely lost faith in the EU having our best interests at heart. Scary times.

This is the kind of shit I would expect to see happening in the US and to see the EU literally laugh in their faces as they tried to bring it in over here.

    7. „They already track you so why does it matter id they keep tracking you more“
      „Sure ive nothing to hide“

Just getting these big brain responses in early

So what happens if some messaged their buddies everyday that the world would be a better place if X was dead, would that get flagged? What of you messaged some was was critical of Isreal or Donald the rapist

Everyone should run for politics so we are all exempt – show the hypocrisy

    10. If you want to stop Elon Musk and the far right, you’ll have to support this.

If you have immigrant friends being against this law is a slap on their face.

    11. I can’t wait. Theyll bring in chat monitoring so we’ll quit WhatsApp and go back to calling each other. They’ll bring in age verification for social so we’ll quit social and stop fighting and read real newspapers again. Spotify will keep getting worse and more expensive so we’ll go listen to local bands live. Netflix will add commercials so we’ll go to see more live theatre. PlayStation will remove physical media and we’ll go back to couch gaming on retro consoles.

Algorithms have no power in real life. 24 hour news cycles only exist if you tune in. Privacy as the price to enter a theme park with questionable safety records, broken rides, pick pockets everywhere, forced ads while you queue for everything, it’s absolutely rammed with mental people, and the automated staff don’t care… Seems like a very high price to pay.

The power and control of these systems is very tenuous. If we stop engaging with them they are cut off at the knees. We traded convenience for consumer power, privacy, and civil liberties by moving everything online into this fake world that they control. It’s like we walked into Mordor in a dream. We just need to wake up.

    12. Terrible, terrible idea.

Minimal benefit and it’ll give the EU skeptics a valid reason to attack the EU. Undermining our security. Pissing off the young. Inconveniencing everyone else.
