Why would this be a reason to protest? There are plenty of things worth protesting, but what’s wrong with facial recognition cameras? They seem pretty normal to me.

I guess this is because 99.99% people does not understand even basics of technology and digital gulag, or aware what privacy is. This is not specific to Georgia, it is a global thing.
Most opposiition politics „preparing to previous war“.
Situation overall is worse than very bad, and the fact it involves more tech stuff does not making it easier even to explain what is happening.
For example, how to communicate why this system of cameras with face recognition is bad in door to door communication to a neighbor who believes to kremlin disinfo or to woman whose head full of day to day housewife duties and care about their child?

If we were living in a dystopian country sure I’d be aight but we are living in a country ran by Georgian dream
They can freely send titushki to any opposition member in seconds since after installing those facial recognition cameras they’ll have a reliable 24/7 way of finding anyone they don’t like
The argument that they could already do that with CCTV cameras is as dumb as it can get as it is not similar in any way
Imagine a situation where something similar happens to that of the teacher getting murdered
In this case anyone with privilege can tell their daddy to find where X person is and they would get instant location access to where X person is
Anything privacy invasive by a government will always be used for the worst and we can see our future with this cameras by just looking at what’s happening in china
