This showed up right after CityAM’s article, „pubs will be forced to kick punters out“

    2. I’ve literally just seen a thread saying they must close at half time. Jfc.

      Ooooooh Keir Starmers a leeeegend.

Commence the downvotes….I’ve got karma to spare.

    4. I just read comments about 6 mins ago on another thread berating that pubs our dying but why won’t the government do anything. Someone who responded was right, people just love to be outraged

    5. I felt like they could anyway? The pub I was in last night was already selling tickets for Sunday haha. I’m guessing for a lot of pubs it’ll come down to staffing and whether they can get enough people willing to work the stupid hours

Good that they’re allowed to, but will it really be that big? It’s on a Monday morning, most people will be going to work a few hours after full time. I would’ve thought the probably won’t make that much since they’ll presumably be having to pay staff overtime.

The utter whiplash on this. The media really can’t wait to get its digs in can it.

Good, to close the pubs will be such bad PR.

If pubs did lock ins and got fined, the press will be spinning it for weeks.

I think Mexico is winning this one.. Mexico City, Azteca / altitude, won all their games so far. Hopefully England can do it, but I have Mexico knocking us out Monday morning.

„Football might be coming home but we’re making sure fans don’t have to“

      What a line

The varying times they are doing for these games are just stupid, what the hell are they doing? This is totally and completely unfair on the players. They should all be prepared for ONE time zone and this would allow them to play football wide awake instead of half asleep. There’s literally not one single ‚professional footballer‘ in a team playing at 5AM when they are all asleep. Game play quality should be as a result of the skill sets these guys have, not the time of day.

    12. As someone living above a pub, I’m suddenly glad I’m not working on the 6th…

As someone who works in a pub, jesus just let me have England game I can watch with my friends.

    14. And now people will moan because the same „dying“ pubs will now have to pay wages for staff during that time and get more stock in.

Kier starmer is the only recent prime minister who doesnt just pay lip service to football, he has always been a supporter

    16. God help anyone walking through a town centre on their way to work on Monday if England lose!

How continental lol. If we win that Mexico game then the country will pop off (in a good way)

Can we have some sympathy – full disclosure I don’t work in Regulatory Services – for Regulatory Services teams who were fielding calls 24 hours ago for licensing issues that are no longer relevant.

Pub in town did the right thing and applied for a TEN license last week for £21. Through planning they got a competitive edge on the competition and started advertising they’ll be open. Now through populism they’ve lost that edge and all pubs now get the benefit.

Not sure how I feel about that but I do feel a little bit sorry for the landlords that did the right thing and got their affairs in order.

People in this thread would be shocked if they ever lived in Spain.

Great use of parliament passing emergency legislation.

Meanwhile convicted gamg rapists can’t be deported because of 1970s loopholes that our government is too lazy to fix?!?

This will be messy. They better hope we win and there’s no extra time or controversy.
      This will definitely be messy.

It makes me laugh, everything suddenly at a stand still just because everyone and their dog decides they like football for a month or so.

Football by the way, which hasn’t been good for years now… tactics and over analysing has killed the game. Not to mention they are still o
      verpaid primaddonas.

      Not worth the inconvenience.

They will be coming home soon, without the cup.

This aint aimed at the youngsters who are growing up – not knowing any better yet… this is for the grown men/women that allow themselves to get giddy every couple of years saying it’s coming home. Haven’t you been let down enough yet to even care? Cause I
       know I have.

Yay, the still-drunk or hungovers will be driving to work in morning rush hour. Fantastic.
