Kazuya Kamenashi (40) announced on the 29th on his personal fan club website that he will marry former TBS announcer and actress Minami Tanaka (39). It was also revealed that Tanaka is pregnant with their first child.

In a handwritten message, he reported: “I have decided to marry Minami Tanaka. In addition, we have also been blessed with a new life.” He also expressed his enthusiasm for his future entertainment activities and renewed his gratitude to his fans.

Following the announcement, both parties’ official websites posted statements accompanied by a handwritten joint signature. The message read: “We are pleased to report that Kazuya Kamenashi and Minami Tanaka have decided to get married. We also report that we have been blessed with a new life.” It continued: “Although we are still immature as a couple, as performers, as parents, and as human beings, we will cherish our way of being and strive even harder. We will sincerely walk through each and every activity, so we sincerely ask for your continued guidance and encouragement. We express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us, and to the related parties who have given us understanding and cooperation.”

The two first connected around 2023 through a dialogue feature in the fashion magazine MAQUIA and later co-starred in the 2024 TV Asahi drama series Destiny.

Regarding their relationship, on New Year’s Day 2024 some websites reported it as a “sudden marriage” (with names withheld), causing terms like “serious relationship” to trend on social media. Fans also celebrated the pair by likening them to “Reiwa no Touch” (modeled after a manga), which became a hot topic. At the time, SMILE-UP. (the former Johnny’s office) to which Kamenashi belonged stated: “Since we started working together on jobs, we have been getting along well.”

Kamenashi joined the former Johnny’s office (now SMILE-UP.) in 1998. In 2006 he debuted with KAT-TUN with the single “Real Face.” At the end of March 2025, KAT-TUN ended its activities, and Kamenashi left STARTO ENTERTAINMENT to go independent.
Tanaka left TBS at the end of September 2014. She has remained active across a wide range of fields, including variety shows, and made her drama lead debut in NHK’s About the Villainess.

I feel like half of Japanese men in the entertainment industry only get married because their girlfriend is pregnant. Do these men not see any other point to marriage?
