Wenn Sie über eine tragbare Klimaanlage mit Einzelschlauch-Durchfluss verfügen und Schwierigkeiten haben, Ihren Raum kühl zu halten, ziehen Sie bitte ein einfaches Upgrade auf Doppel-Durchfluss in Betracht.
Normale Klimaanlagen verfügen außen über eine Kühleinheit und sind von innen isoliert. Die Kühleinheit kühlt dicke Kupferdrähte, die an Ihre Inneneinheit angeschlossen sind.
Ihre Inneneinheit bläst Innenluft nur über die Spulen auf der Innenseite, sodass Sie spüren, wie kalte Luft austritt. Es findet kein Luftaustausch zwischen außen und innen statt, lediglich die Wärme von innen wird über Wärmeleitrohre nach außen an ein Kühlaggregat übertragen.
Im Gegensatz zu einer Standard-Fenstereinheit oder einem Split-System befindet sich eine tragbare Einschlauch-Klimaanlage vollständig in Ihrem Raum. Um zu funktionieren, saugt sie die Luft aus dem Raum an, den Sie kühlen möchten.
Eine Einzelschlauch-Klimaanlage verwendet einen Teil dieser Luft, um kalte Luft zu Ihnen zurückzublasen, den Rest dieser Luft nutzt sie jedoch zum Abkühlen ihres eigenen heißen internen Kompressors.
Dann nimmt es die neu erwärmte Luft auf und bläst sie über diesen einzelnen Schlauch aus dem Fenster ab.

Those single block AC units are all shit. Their efficiency is catastrophic and they’re only able to create a small fresher bubble in your room, which is terrible efficiency wise when you know the electricity they are consuming.
Either buy a split AC or just use a normal fan.
I modified mine last night to blow air in. So the actual unit was outside throughout the night. Perfect for sleeping. Then, for a day I can take it in.
Shouldn’t you cover the top inlets as well?

It would be great to find one and a double hose window system.
Negative pressure kills the efficiency with single hose, this is a known issue
Now depending on size of space and where air in the interior might be coming from, a DIY approach might make a big difference in terms of efficiency but in a larger space this may be less of an issue (especially if you are not trying to significantly cool the entire space vs the portion you sleep/work in)

I’ve seen these posts a couple of times recently and I actually don’t really get it. Can someone explain in more detail? Why is it better to use air from outside compared to air from inside? The air from outside is certainly hotter than the inside air, so wouldn’t it be better to use the colder inside air?

Wanted to do same myself, but all the flexible hoses were gone in obi and Jumbo yesterday. One thing, isulate only the hot one. If the hot one is heating the air intake tube it significantly lowers the efficiency of the unit
Several stupid questions here: So both tubes end up outside the window? Side by side? Isn’t that an issue ? Where does one buy all the equipment to do this duo job? (Hornbach and jumbo as mentioned below?) didn’t know about this dual hose concept and I learnt it via the several posts. Why is it they don’t sell it with the dual hoses? Shouldn’t it then be the norm? Thank you!

I wonder if this makes sense at all.. compressor needs insulation, not just a metal hose to pull air from outside, that is not insulated too.. to do it right and feel a minimal difference: 1. Insulate around the compressor, insulate the shell and then insulate the hose (both directions), then congrats for the misery difference in efficiency
Hey so I’m disabled and hopefully getting a portable AC soon (waiting on delivery)
I contacted the local AC installation companies for help and since I’m a tenant they don’t want to help even if it’s a portable AC
I don’t know if I’ll be able to even install it by myself and I’m interested in modifying it like you did there
I want to pay someone to do it for me but I don’t know where to look, I want it to be done safely so I need someone who knows what they’re doing

I’m glad to see that a nation renowned for its precision mechanics has once again picked up umm.. scissors, tape and cardboard boxes.
It is not more efficient as it use more electricity.

Hey OP improve it even more by adding a 3rd hose!
There’s a lot of volume being pushed out the room, this means that the air intake hose needs to match the volume, since it’s the same section as the output hose the air must travel at the same speed. This requires a lot of pressure from the fan, if you double the section by adding a second intake hose you can significantly reduce the stress on the fan. <3
