Laten we een regime dat 10’000den eigen burgers neerknallen op straat niet goedpraten

    2. And? Its not even national anthem of the people. I am actually proud that the commentator is well informed.

    5. Makes sense they’re not popular with a US crowd after kicking their ass in a war.

    6. in all fairness „een aantal gekken die de leiding hebben“ doesn’t quite narrow it down in todays geopolitics

if israel was playing nobody would find it displaced to criticise them. The islamic regime is one of the most repressive regimes, responsible for 35000+ deaths in the last year.

He got reprimanded for this. Which I think is OK, because we don’t watch sports for political comments. There’s a lot to say about certain countries being in the world cup (or not) or certain countries hosting it, but the actual sports broadcast is just not the place for that.

If you listen/read carefully, he doesn’t insult the Islamic republic. He insults the people in charge in Iran atm.

      There is a difference.

Het is gewoon erg stom om selectief politiek commentaar te geven.

    11. If you want to mix your sports with your politics, then you can’t really be watching the world cup, lately, let’s be real.

Last host country was a place where the infrastructure was built by pretty much slave labor, the one before that a country that had already invaded it’s neighbor (yes yes not officially, back then, but the „little green men“ were fooling no one)

If there’s any thing that FIFA actually DOES stand for, I’d guess it’s … uh, Greed? Yeah. Greed.

He says the audience is booing their regime, because they’re a bunch of „crazy people“. He supports the booing.

And? Is he wrong? The regime massacred thousands of innocent protesters just 6 months ago. Let’s keep our common sense and not defend it, thanks.

Iran is led by religious extremists that kill their own people. If you’re not critical of that ur just insane.

    15. He insults the leaders, not the republic. And during the match he talked very positive and respectful about the people of Iran.

    16. As well he should, the leadership and structure of that nation in general aren’t representative of the average citizen.

Facts and the truth ought to be the only thing that matters to people but is rarely the case in my experience.

Anyway, while his words may have sounded a little harsh, they hold truth.

    17. Niet dat het me echt stoorde en hij had dan wel gelijk maar dat soort commentaren zit niet in zijn jobomschrijving. Hou het bij voetbal.
