    1. Sounds like he’s worried about it affecting sales. Give consumers choice, if they don’t care about AI in video games, the tag won’t matter. But seems like Tim knows they care and is worried…

Wow, the competition that can’t stand on its own legs calls its chief competitor something bad. What a worthless news story.

Perfect illustration of how out of touch Timmy is. He doesn’t see the user’s perspective at all.

Here’s an idea to overtake Steam: do the opposite of what you would normally do Sweeney.

‚Informed consent is irresponsible‘ is a hell of a statement to make publicly.

Just another reason to never transition to the Microtransaction company.

    6. They aren’t being penalized, it’s just a tag. He’s worried the free market won’t favor Epic’s AI-ridden games

If he thinks AI is so great, wouldn’t he view the tag as a good thing? They can show off the great tools they used to make the game

    7. Looks like Gabe inadvertently got back at him for that new yatch post he made trying to appear as the good guy.

    8. Hey Tim, have ya considered, y’know, NOT using the hallucinating plagiarism machine?

Steam has already made clear that you don’t have to disclose if AI was used on workflow, only if AI generated assets exist.

Holy shit, all this guy does is whine and cry. Make your platform worth a shit and people might follow. I’m sick of hearing this asshole open his mouth.

No corpos should be rewarded on using clankers to justify them booting devs and artists off their jobs.

    12. „While it was unfortunate that some AI tech companies trained their models on stolen data…“

That right there is why tim can go fuck himself. If he is allowed to minimize ACTUAL STOLEN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, we are allowed to minimize his involvement in making said game.

I dont know how these fuckers sleep at night. (Sorry, im 3 Jack on the rocks deep, and heated)

If I want to support real people with my money, I like that option.

    14. Anyone that is against informed consumers isn’t someone you should give your money to.

Why does Tim bitch about everything but his own shitty store?
I bet redirecting some of this energy would improve Epic Store, but Tim and team’s gotta be dipshits

    16. What’s irresponsible is pressuring children into begging their parents to buy them microtransactions and battle passes

    17. As soon as AI can actually deliver on the hype, these tags will be a positive. Transparency is the best policy. Let the users decide

    18. He’s only mad because Unreal Engine 6 is focusing heavily on creative AI which will require games that use to declare they’ve used AI. He made a decision to kill jobs with UE6 and now has to figure out how to market it because games with AI don’t sell well. The backlash is real and tangible.

Tim Sweeny is a grifter and scoundrel, and generally I approve of whatever he complains about on principle.

He is such a fraud, top to bottom, that his words mean *nothing*.

How dare valve shame us for stealing content and cutting jobs for profit and AI slop! HOW FUCKING DARE THEY

    21. grayhaze2000 on

Well then, I guess we know were Epic Games stand on using AI-generated assets in their games. I’ll add them to the list of publishers I’ll be avoiding.
