10 years ago this would have been +-€14 for you both. Today this is +- €24 on average for 2 persons

I’m actually surprised that you found a place that charges that much. Durum places and alike bumped their prices recently but the average durum really isn’t over 8,5€. Call it 12 with drinks and premium prices, per person. You’re way overboard.
My guess is, the place sells for a regular price but knew you were tourists.
You got tourist trapped big time. Next time go to Pita the Original (Quai au Bois à Brûler 65) or Greekit (Avenue Livingstone 20) instead.

Was it some kind of gourmet pita? Because for a normal one thats way too much.
I eat pita quite a lot and have tried many places. Usually, a regular pita costs around €6 to €8, and drinks are about €2 each.
There is a restaurant in Aalter that also charges a lot in comparison to other places. Which would also result in 35 euro’s (if you had two big ones).
So yes it’s pricey, but not impossible.

i live in brussels andi think i know this place and i think you are massively over inflating this price.
yes shit is expensive for sure, but i call bull on this, even the tourist traps dont ask 15€ for a pita and the fact its greek im almost certain you’re exaggerating

As most people have pointed out, you’d have to look real hard to get scammed this badly. Pita places are notoriously cheap. Even with inflation, a big pita should cost you around €10-ish

If before that happened you enjoyed our strong special beers and got tricked into paying that much then you experienced a typical Belgian experience. Yes it’s expensive and I hope it was tasty. But that’s what happens when you had a few strong beers too many. But otherwise, coming to Belgium and not having a few strong Beers too many is like missing the core experience.
