That for everyone? If you’re in an air conditioned office or working from home or even doing deliveries. Does every shop and GP office closed in Spain and Germany?

AC in my office is broken, and they’re still forcing us to come in instead of WFH
This is the adult version of hoping for snow days as a kid in school
I WFH. Office is the in the attic. I have a fan and all my windows open. Still clocking 33.8 degrees right now.
Sounds great except not realistic in practice. Would mean closing a lot of kitchens, taking a lot of vans & truck off the road (many do not have air-con). Stopping all outdoor work. This proposal is poorly thought out. By all means provide advice, suitable clothing and where feasible change the temps. But making it compulsory will not work. Kite flying populist nonsense

175000 people die in Europe every year from the heat. We need to get past this culture of not having air conditioning.
I would love to work with air conditioning. I’m a HCA in a nursing home, not my first home. None have air conditioning. I was so hot this morning doing personal care for people my scrub top was genuinely soaked all over with the sweat.
This has taken its sweet fucking time. How many need to be affected by heat stroke before something is done. 4 people dropped in work today. Factory work alone needs to be addressed and kitchen work
It’s a good idea. Temperatures also effect the workers ability to think and work well. Any smart business would already be on top of this.

I suggest anything over 12 degrees should be mandatory WFH
Health and Safety aside as a country we get so few sunny days that’s for mental and physical health workplaces should look to encourage their employees to make the most of the weather.
Now for essential services I can see an issue with trying to do the same
How does this work on a building site?
Along with the so-called rainy day fund, we should also have a sunny day fund
Do minimum too, some place saves on heating during the winter
How does this work for horticulture? Glasshouses and polytunnels easily go above this range.

Oh this again. We do this every year and nothing happens. 46 degrees in the kitchen yesterday.
The reality is that my place of work barely breaks even most of the year and closing for a heatwave would result in the loss of all of our jobs.
Air conditioning would be a better solution.

They „propose“ lots of things then never do anything. Unless it’s to impose another punitive tax on something.

The government should have 3 „jaysis it hot“ bank holidays that they can enact at short notice.
Work in manufacturing, the factory floor does not have AC. With all the machines running its hot enough as it is, when this type of weather comes about it is unbearable. Add lab coats to the mix on top of that. Sweaty times indeed.
I work in a spa. Usually kept at 35 degrees. No air con. No windows. I am sick of contacting the HSA. It needs to happen.
I’m a welder. I literally have to stand in front of melting metal all day and can’t remove layers or else I get burnt.
I personally back the shit out of this.
