Isn’t that the goal of human resources management these days though? Make workers nervous, desperate and eager to please?

Does he also hear the lamentation of the women as they are driven before him?

Well, when workers realize they are working for pure evil they tend not to be too enthusiastic about.

    5. To lift everyone’s spirits we’re going to have a hackathon! Aka everyone is going to come and work really hard for a short time for free pizza. Lol I don’t mind hackathons in the right context but as a morale booster?!? Lmao I’m sure the execs love the idea though, instead of spending money on morale, let’s make money!

He had one idea, Facebook, which is very questionable as a good idea. After that, it’s pure grift, greed and self aggrandizement.

As someone who also wrote PHP in the 2000s, I really do kind of envy him.

    8. Oh no! Did Skeletor make his henchmen unhappy? I bet the henchmen could not have seen this coming, because they were so happy working at Snake Mountain.

It was the beginning of the end the moment they started calling humans “resources.”

    10. I’m just trying to think of ways to force companies to not be docke to employees. Something punitive.

Like if the companies yearly satisfaction survey is negative, then in turn there is an additional tax that has to be paid by the company

Did they try having a Hawaiian shirt day? Favorite sports team jersey day?

Please whoever is reading this that works at Meta, you need to quit. Hit them where it hurts, don’t be a prostitute to this knowledge extraction, you’re literally training your replacements.

    14. Honestly sometimes I wish all these talented engineers would offer their skills to companies that deserve it not these soulless big tech cancers. They treat you like shit, you always looking over your shoulder on whether or not your gonna get fired and assuming you do well you then get tapped on the shoulder given an ultimatum of your gonna work for the applied AI team now if you say no well there’s the door. And from what I heard from the engineers in that division it’s the most soul crushing work they’ve ever experienced yet when you ask why stay…. Money

Ok and the exec was in on it too. Stop trying to shift the blame upwards when you are directly contributing to it.

Boy wonder applying the management lessons of his father’s dentist office. He is a boy king with a cash cow.

It turns out your talent pool is significantly more limited when you run a shitty uncool company where the business model is selling ads to elderly people interacting with bots under AI generated pictures of Jesus covered in mud.

Also, it’s limited when your company is responsible for a non-zero number of genocides, the boss hangs out with neo-American fascist authoritarians, the last three company projects were insane duds (one of which was stolen from a bad sci-fi novel the boss didn’t finish), and the boss
is running around telling everyone to work harder like a sophomore engineering student pissing into jugs so he doesn’t have to leave the computer while coding at 3:30 AM.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer company. Meta hasn’t produced a worthwhile new product in a long time. All their investments in AI products have fallen flat and Zuck truly doesn’t understand what normal people want. Meta has relied on increasing profits by jacking up Ad volume to the point that your instagram feed is 50% Ads and AI slop. They’re starting to lose users and yes Meta will be able to ride their current products wringing every nickel out of them for a number of years but if I’m an investor, I don’t truly see the growth proposition if I’m looking 5-10 years down the road.

    19. Especially when you fire thousands of people while making record profits. I remember when companies used to reward employees when the company did well. Now you’ll get fired no matter what. Why should employees ever trust these companies again, let alone work harder?

    20. Layoffs while you are making BILLIONS in profit tend to do that. If you are losing money, fine. You have to do what you need to do. Posting obscene profit and then laying people off to make even more obscene profit is the problem. This crap needs to start being punished or at the very least, seen as a negative business practice. Wall Street rewards it though, so it will keep happening.

    21. HermanBonJovi on

      I mean, duh.

They keep announcing all the billions in profit and then layoff 8000 people cause of „budget cuts“. Wtf they expect?

    22. Zuck explored his manhood and tank morale in his company.

Tell me the universe doesn’t have a humor…

Remember when everyone wanted to work for the FAANG companies because they offered great pay, benefits, and a fun work environment?

      Pepperidge Farm remembers.

    24. I mean, can YOU imagine working for this guy? It would be awful, no matter the pay. You could not pay me to be that miserable.
