Der Iran hat Trump gedemütigt

Being humiliated requires someone to feel shame. So I very much doubt the premise.

The US propagandamachine will spin this as a win and americans will just put this in their long list of military victories like Afghanistan and Vietnam.

I think the lessons from the fighting are fairly universal. Cheap precision weapons, drones, dispersed infrastructure, and constant ISR make denial and defense much more effective than many people expected. As seen in Ukraine as well.

Beyond that I think it’s fair to say Iran forced the US into a corner. But let’s not go too far. Iran didn’t force America out of the Gulf nobody stepped in to stop the US and none of americas major structural advantages really changed. People were already trending toward anti interventionism before this war. Beyond that what actually changed?

I’m sure there will be the usual predictable takes based on the headline, but the articles most interesting point was on the MOU and how it described it as something “both sides intend to break”. The article if you read it at times took an unserious tone about the viability of the MOU and how it gives both sides an excuse to stop fighting and be bound by “vague terms” instead of precise ones.

So if that is true, are some of these assumptions on the final terms premature? What exactly will the U.S. and Iran be discussing that wasn’t covered in the MOU and how could the final deal look different? Overall a good article but I was somewhat surprised by the slight tone shift. I also wonder what the chances are of reaching a final deal without someone breaking the terms.

This article is humiliating Trump. Do they want the war to continue? Dangerous.

the framing here depends entirely on what you think the actual goal was. if the us wanted regime change or to cripple iran’s military capacity, yeah they failed. but if the point was to maintain presence in the gulf and signal capability, the calculus looks different. iran did land some strikes and that matters symbolically, but most got intercepted and nothing fundamental shifted about us power projection in the region. both sides probably claimed victory at home because that’s how these things work. the real test is what happens next month when cooler heads are supposed to be negotiating, assuming anyone actually sticks to it.

I wonder if Iran has the unredacted Epstein files. The one thing Trump fights hardest to suppress.

And humiliated America with it.

The US hegemony experiment failed. We are moving back into a multi polar world. Rebalancing energy markets is part of that. This was one move of many in a multi administration long project to set that in motion.

It’s weird as there is a video where Trump seemingly shits his pants in the Oval Office. Yet I think this is way more embarrassing. Maybe Bill Clinton needed to lose the war in Yugoslavia to fully cover up his personal scandal.

Macron played him like a fiddle. It paid off handling grandpa for a few days.

Trump humiliated trump. Just like last time. And the time before that. and that other time. Every time.

The real lesson in this whole debacle is how toothless and spineless the Gulf States are. For all their bluster and spending they couldn’t protect themselves, couldn’t project power, and couldn’t push back against what is supposed to be a relative peer. The UAE and Saudi are paper lions, not even tigers. They lay back and do nothing, expecting the rest of the pride to feed them. When push comes to shove comes to kill they’re going to get crushed. This only emboldens the bad actors in the region.

My sorrow is with the Iranian people who will likely never have another chance to resist their repressive regime. Decades of sentiment built up only to be violently quashed because opportunists refused to listen to voices of reason.

The Kurds and Israel are also going to experience some interesting fallout from this whole thing.

There is no shame, no humiliation. He lives in his own world, surrounded by yes men. He’s the greatest at everything, this war that Bibi talked him into definitely is genius, and the fact that every aspect of the MOU/Peace deal is advantageous to Iran is fake news.

This is the world we live in.
