    1. > Meta will allow people reassigned to the AI task force to reapply for other jobs within Meta if they want to, and it is increasing budgets for travel, events, and snacks, Wired reported.

Oh, they’ve decided to release the prisoners?

I guess mass layoffs and mandatory „fun“ times can be detrimental to morale, who would have thought?

It’s this way all over big tech. It turns out CEOs and top brass saying engineers will eventually all be replaced by coding AI… doesn’t really make people want to work as hard anymore.

Yet everyone keeps using WhatsApp, Facebook, etc… And wonders why nothing ever changes.

    5. Ironically I feel like AI is capable of making decisions that are more empathic than what the leadership of Meta would

Luckily for Mark Zuckerberg, only Elon Musk can beat him out as „Worst Tech Bro“ ever.

So it turns out that when the company goal shifts from being an innovator to making the world a dystopian hellhole for money, it really bums people out. Who wouldda thunk?

      >Meta increased the budget for snacks and travel to combat the morale problem

Oh gee, they really pinpointed the exact issue there, didn’t they? /s

Might be to do with the thousands of friends and colleagues getting fired for no damn reason but a pizza party or two should turn that frown upside down.

Unless they are getting rid of Zuck then moral is going to stay in the tank.

Why is low morale such a surprise to META leadership? They just engineered an utter bloodbath.

wasn’t this the same guy who told employees „you should quit if you feel that way, I mean it“ like a year ago? wild pivot from „door’s right there“ to „please stay, here’s some snacks“

this is the fourth year of mass layoffs in a row. to be honest, companies with high achieving employees get to layoff employees exactly 1 time before it deeply impacts trust in leadership, morale, and innovation.

If you’re told you have to code your replacement, and see your colleagues being made redundant all around you, then yeah, your moral will drop.

We have to start realising that these tech bros, tech moguls etc are not that intelligent. They operate on one rule only – fast growth at any cost. Very few can play the long game, and even fewer have „human happiness“ as a KPI.

Gates realized when it was his time to leave as ceo at ms in 2000..
Wonder if zuck will realize it is his time to reset his firmware into retirement mode soon

Technology was always supposed to make us all happy and prosperous. But in reality technology is making only really a few prosperous and happy. Although I do question if these tech billionaires and C-suite people are actually happy. If they were actually truly happy would they be these megalomaniacs they so often become?
