    1. That’s mostly a good thing. But with the airlines allowed to give you a discount if you don’t bring a big carry-on, it will effectively just change the default booking setting. So not much will change.

Rules that they are not allowed to charge you for correcting spelling errors is a good change as well.

Europe makes laws which make normal Europeans life better.
USA makes laws which make billionaires even richer.

    3. > Airlines say the rules will harm their competitiveness in the market and lead to higher ticket prices.

Because it will be a clean price and not a constant attempt to rip off with untrivial fees. Guess what customers prefer.

It is a welcome change. I really hope that 100 cm all dimensions will work, too. Because the custom-shaped boxes the airlines have before the boarding now are not compliant with that rule.

    4. Great. I’d rather have no choice and just pay a higher price than keep reminding myself I am poor and pathetic when obsessively spending an hour to weigh different luggage options over a few euros.

    5. Any rule to see all the other optional feature/cost upfront so I don;’t have to go through all the booking process just to know how much does the extra legroom seat cost on a flight?

    6. In other news, ticket prices rise in the EU. This is so stupid and why the EU has trouble competing. Regulation regulation regulation.

    7. “Carriers will also be barred from charging fees for correcting spelling errors or changing passenger names on tickets. So-called ’no-show‘ penalties on return flights will also be banned.”

      First part is good.

Second part Im trying to see why we would be punished for no show on return flights.

I’m not sure. All sources I’ve read so far said that it was proposed but objected. Only in flight search engines, carry-on has to be included in the prices but not in airline prices

      This is great!

We accidentally booked tickets without the carry on bags and the 150 EUR return ticket ended up costing 90 EUR more…

I don’t mind paying (well actually I do), but I would’ve planned better if I knew the price beforehand.

    10. ITT people butthurt EU actually provides for it’s citizens instead of licking corporate butts. Y’all deserve to go hungry.

    11. i think checked should be free, carry on charged.

too many people bring large bags as part of carry on

I hope they also added something for minimum weight. They will prob be like carry on included weight limit…8kg 🤡

    13. Sooo another EU slop, accept a change that makes a good headline (removable batteries…), but actually give the corporation a work around and at the end of the day nothing changes.

    14. As someone who flies a lot. I hate this.

We should WANT airlines to charge for Carryon baggage, and we should be regulating how much they can charge for checked baggage. When airlines started charging for first checked bag, the cabin storage started to fill up. Air staff don’t want to manage people putting 1 above and 1 below, so you get people who put 2 bags, and a jacket in the overhead and then a scramble at the end where they need to gate check a bunch of luggage and people are repacking bags in the isles to move batteries, medication, and keys into their smaller bag.

Charge me €20 for a small carryon bag and $30 for a large and give everyone a free checked in bag. People like me who are jumping from plane to plane or airport to meeting, will pay the €50, people hunting for cheap flights can just do a single checked bag.

    15. Starting from when? They’ve been talking about this for a while. No clear date in mind.

    16. Misleading. Airlines must advertise fares that include a standard carry-on. They can still offer fares without.

    17. Hot take but careyon should be for a fee while checked luggage should be free up to some dimensions and weight.

Would make flying so much better then having to fight for careyon space thats inadequate, and holds up the boarding process.

    18. Oh no this is socialism that protects consumers instead of blanket rewards for anything-goes capitalism no no no no no this won’t do

    19. BEFORE

      No carry-on: €100

      With carry-on: €130

      AFTER

      No carry-on: Banned

      With carry-on: €130

      ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Nice. I always have to pay extra for this on small business trips. Not me personally mind you, but since I work for the government it’s a nice break for the tax payers 😄
