The administration’s imposition of export controls forced Anthropic to pull its new AI model, Fable, just days after it was released to the public. Anthropic had given assurances that it was safe, but soon after its release, top administration officials developed fresh doubts that the AI’s guardrails were as secure as the company had suggested.

Very likely that NSA/US Cyber Command noticed that soon after Fable’s release some of their zero day exploits started getting patched up by foreign governments. No doubt US Gov has been monitoring communications in Iran, China, Russia, etc. as well as rooting around inside backdoors on companies and foreign institutions they deem adversaries. The speed with which the rollback order was issued with 90 minutes to shut it down smells of national security concerns, not business interests.

So is Anthropic so much better than all the other AI’s? Why aren’t they banned.
