I can give a little context here. I know he is not viewed positively anywhere around the world. But Indians has a soft corner for him. When India was fighting colonialism he helped Indian leader Subash Chandra Bose to form the Indian National Army to fight against the British rule.
Also in our school textbooks there was one story of 1936 Olympics hockey match between India and Germany where India beat Germany 8-1 and „he“ came to congratulate Major Dhyan Chand who is a very renowned hockey player from India.
Also what „he“ is to the world, Winston Churchill is to India. Ironical but true.
