> Migrants will be given three months to find private accommodation or face being deported under Reform leader’s plans
Wants to support landlords basically. They will be cheering this news in their group chats today.
But i can get behind the idea

That’s compelling tbf

Becoming more fascist at every turn. What next banning them from public transport? Making them wear an identification badge?

Rich guy who owns 5 properties, gets free £5 million cash gifts and is funded by a crypto billionaire who doesn’t live in the UK, wants to attack the most vulnerable in their homes.
It’s rather sick. Of course, we all know Reform has no intentions of building social housing at scale anyway. So, this policy isn’t really about helping the homeless.
I don’t know how this would work for those on Indefinite leave to Remain, or whether legal challenges would be possible. Probably should be.
*The Withdrawal Agreement protects the existing rights to equal treatment and non-discrimination for EU citizens residing or working in the UK, UK nationals residing or working in the EU, and their family members. They will have broadly the same entitlements to work, study and access public services and benefits as now where these entitlements have derived from UK membership
of the EU.*

Boomerslop.
This will almost certainly cost more in council resources (time, legal fees, etc) than actually building new council houses.

People will eat this up but it simply isn’t possible.
The percentage of foreign nationals in social housing without any disabilities and/or dependents will be minuscule
So unless he is removing child safeguarding laws, it’s just a soundbite

I thought it was only the illegal migrants that Reform/Restore are going to be focusing on? That’s what the supporters keep saying here on Reddit. So if you work in the NHS, in council housing and bringing up the desperately needed next generation of children, Reform are going to come along and throw them on the street or deport them just because they are not originally from the UK? and somehow that isn’t racist?

Once again I’ll ask the question, deport them to where? How will they do this? There’s never any explanation and no one ever asks the important question of how it will work.
Answer: it wont.
All this does is push more money to private landlords and firms. Many migrants, once they get their leave to remain, are already living in private HMOs whilst still getting Housing Benefit etc. So financially the state will be no better off. Once again this is all performative nonsense that falls apart the moment you actually start to ask questions.

It’s utterly ridiculous that migrants can get council housing in some of the wealthiest areas of London. Even if you support social housing, at very least they should not be eligible for the costliest 20% of postcodes.

Utterly mad that we even have foreign nationals in council housing. I can’t think of any country I could move to and live off of the taxpayer.

I don’t see an issue with this.
It should require citizenship.
Do i think it’s a major issue and will have a material impact upon the supply of social housing – no, but it will help.

Council housing should be based on need and eligibility. If you don’t need it because your circumstances have changed or you don’t meet the eligibility criteria then you shouldn’t have it.
Anyone who is found subletting illegally or renting it out as an AirBnB clearly doesn’t need the place or at least doesnt need the size of the house they have so they should be moved somewhere more suitable.
This thread proves that there can never be a sensible conversation about things like this. Because Farage said it there are those who simply cannot bring themselves to see past their hatred of him. If he said one plus one equals two they would go on about how he is wrong.
We have a social housing problem in this country that is getting worse. Its not unreasonable to expect people who need those houses get them and that priority is given to people from the UK.

I agree with reducing immigration from countries that aren’t culturally compatible with the UK.
I agree with removing immigrants who are already in the UK, who have not made any attempt to assimilate, or are criminal, or are culturally incompatible, or are economically unproductive.
But I believe we can do this in a way which is respectful. These are not inherently conservative ideas, in fact in some ways they are very leftist. You do not have to do them in such a cruel way.
Also I don’t think Reform has a coherent or clear plan on *how* they’re going to do it, which seems crazy considering that’s their main policy.
I am not sure he even wants to do it, because then he would not have anything to run on.

But for EU citizens covered under the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement, I imagine legal challenges will be possible under its provisions: [https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/withdrawal-agreement-explainer-for-part-2-citizens-rights](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/withdrawal-agreement-explainer-for-part-2-citizens-rights)
