**Method:** For each group-stage match, I converted kickoff time into each team’s fan-local time and modeled the viewing window as kickoff through kickoff + 120 minutes.
Example: a 23:00-01:00 local viewing window scores 3.0 points: 60 minutes at 1.0x and 60 minutes at 2.0x.

What match is giving America sleep tax?

Algeria getting fucked. There’s a possibility they don’t get out of the group. So if you want to watch them at all in a WC the earliest you have to wake up is 02:00. Sucks balls

I guess it also depends on at what time do people go to sleep. Because here 23:00 is quite reasonably early. But it looks like a match at 21:00 is disruptive in the USA for example

Many countries are spread across multiple time zones and you are assuming every region have the same sleeping patterns.

I would argue that a 22:00 is more taxing than a 05:00. A 22:00 game will go past midnight whereas I get up at 05:00 most mornings anyway!

It’s dumb that the last US game starts so late on a Thursday, the game tonight should have been 10pm and that one 9pm.

Now do the same, but with work hours.

after living here for 5 years, and getting to know the Dutch culture, I can confirm that the 0100 game is very much a cause for excitement lol people will be going wild that day

Am I reading this correctly? It says Australia’s start times are 7am, 3pm, 11pm. Our start times (on the east coast – most populated time zone) are 2pm, 5am, 12pm.

Sleep Tax points are weighted minutes / 60:
– 22:00-00:00: 1.0x
– 00:00-02:00: 2.0x
– 02:00-06:00: 3.0x
– 06:00-08:00: 1.5x
– 08:00-22:00: 0.0x
Example: a 23:00-01:00 local viewing window scores 3.0 points: 60 minutes at 1.0x and 60 minutes at 2.0x.
