    1. I mean yes, but I’m sure even if princess Aiko will become empress, not much will change. The Emperor’s family doesn’t have any influence on politics in Japan. They are not governing the country. Especially if we keep in mind Japan is all about appearing harmonic to every in public, so if anything happens, we will neither gear nor see it anyway.

Still a reformation so that princess Aiko can become empress would be nice, ultimately though Japan doesn’t need an emperor or empress, that concept is outdated, hence why so many countries don’t have kings or queens anymore.

    4. I mean the imperial family indeed shouldn’t be doing anything.

      Should they? Duh

    5. What Japan needs is Japanese that care about their japanese fellow people & Japan.
Not some old farts that hold onto their fragile power & ego.
Giving Princess Aiko a run would probably be beneficial for Japanese.
Make the Emperor „God“ / Kami again & let her take care of Japan through the japanese Citizens.

A woman from Kansai I recently met claimed that because there was always been a male heir for 2000 years, Japanese identity itself is tethered to the Emperor having the same Y chromosomes of past leaders. Having someone with an XX pairing would break that line and destroy a culturally significant aspect of Japan. People believe all kinds of nonsense to justify it.

No. Aso Taro doesn’t care about any political agenda whatsoever. All he cares about is enriching himself and his own family. His sister is married to the imperial family, and if the imperial succession bill passes, that would make him a relative to a potential Emperor in the future, ensuring that the Aso name would be enshrined in the history books forever.

    8. What would be the impact of a foreign royal house issuing letters patent granting an HRH to Princess Aiko?
