They tried to bring the silicone valley mindset of ”move fast and break things” to the heavily regulated banking market and it didn’t work out.
Sad to see, because the European banking market could really benefit from some competition.

I need some help here. What crime fighting deficiencies? I thought the only way to move money to your revolut account is through normal bank transfer. I haven’t seen physical office for revolut here.
Seems to me that the old guard has lobbied to slow down the people offering better terms and services.

OK, so let me get this straight: they first identified that Europe’s fractured financial markets are a problem (Draghi report) and then decided to do this. Hm.

I bought the metal version so I can have access to a 20$ perplexity pro subscription, which was cheaper like this. Also have nice rev points when shopping from their promo partners.

Wow. 1 bank which was doing good in quality. Instant payment and transfers. Reliable.
EU is really the king of overregulation and then cry why economy is stagnant.

Guess it’s only okay for Deutschebank and Raiffeisen to launder money.

Revolut in Portugal provides better deposit rates and better loan rates (and conditions) than the “regular” institutions.
The problem is that instead of trying to compete by providing better service at better price, they try to take out the competition this way.
Portuguese banking for the most part is full of commissions, bad service and don’t give a shit about you as a client.
I’ve been more and more inclined to just use Revolution.

Revoult is amazing I’m using it for more than ten years. I own a business and in the early days I just kinda randomly used it in weird ways that while legit should certainly have sent off alarm bells. What I’ve learnt over the years is these fintech companies just don’t have large groups of kyc audit or fraud that other banks have built up. So I can see why this could happen

Another classic example of Europe’s self sabotage!

Revolut is the best bank and fintech app, but old shitty banks try everything to hinder it.
Fast, reliable, and doesn’t need branches, long queues, and clueless tellers.
Traditional banks should learn from it, copy it.

I’m almost certain that most money laundering in Europe is done through conventional businesses with fake invoices and cooked books, and then that money goes “clean” into conventional banks, where taxes are paid to each country’s tax authorities.

Revolut was one of the best things to happen to Malta, a lot of banks had to play catch-up to compete. Of course, local banks are still needed for loans, etc but Revolut is still (in my opinion) the best for day-to-day

While innovative, there are better local banks in Germany.
The revolut advanage is that is brings some cheap banking to countires that never had it before !

recently in another post someone said that EU is better because we do control capitalism.
Yes this shows this very well, it does control and not allow new players to get ahead of the old ones that are in danger to lose power
