Steven Spielberg sagt, dass James-Bond-Filme mich „ständig abgelehnt“ und „Wenn sie mich jetzt gebeten hätten, Regie zu führen“, lauten würden: „Du kannst es dir nicht leisten.“

Guess I’m in the minority but I’d love a Spielberg Bond. Dude rarely delivers outright stinkers and these movies are so all over the place in terms of quality even if he made a bad one it would be forgotten immediately anyway.

    2. Hard to imagine him pulling off a Bond movie with his usual magic but The Last Crusade felt close enough

    3. I love headlines like this because it just sounds like he said this to some random person at a bus stop so he could feel better about himself

How can people not want to see a James Bond movie directed by him. The man did Indiana Jones which was basically his James Bond. Those movies were great and I could easily see him doing a great spy film.

    5. Interesting to see people siding with James Bond over Steven Spielberg here. The James Bond franchise has been more or less the same film for 50+ years. It’s a proven formula, rinse and repeat.

Steven Spielberg was a generation-defining filmmaker in his heyday and has turned in more hits than probably any other director shy of maybe Hitchcock. This guy was the golden boy of cinema from the early 70s all the way to the early 2000s. Sure his output since then has degraded a bit by no means is he making bad films. If anybody on planet Earth has the right to make a statement as bold as this, it’s surely him.

That said, if Steven Spielberg was going to make a James Bond film, it should’ve happened 30 or 40 years ago. Today it should go to somebody younger and more contemporary – but it’s not to say that this guy doesn’t have the chops to do better than 90% of the competition.

Bond movies never had big name directors until Sam Mendes came along and that gave us mixed results

    7. We got the Indiana Jones trilogy as a result and there was no way Broccoli would have allowed for melting faces or hearts ripped out in a Bond film.

He sounds mad about it. Bond is not his style anyway. That’s why he still says „if“ because they never did and won’t.

He has a track record of directing different genres . I am not surprised at all . He can deliver

Spielberg to James Bond producers: If you don’t like me at my 1941, you don’t deserve me at my Schindler’s List.

Just get Martin Campbell to keep doing them. Did Goldeneye and Casino Royale which are my favorites of the last two Bond actors.

    12. Weird because he’s a billionaire? He can take scale for any project he wants and will still be a dragon among men

    13. Did he just break up with James Bond years after James Bond broke up with him? Considering the last movie he directed, wrote, and produced was The Fablemans, I doubt the James Bond folks are too concerned about his overly exuberant display of lack of interest in a bond film

    14. Having watched Minority Report I think he’d make a good Bond film as a thriller genre movie.
